Unfortunately this is something I have had experience with. Crystal had an abcess once that did not rupture. My vet removed the gland. The 2nd one did the same thing but within a few hours actually ruptured. Nasty mess :(

Ok I've had dogs all my life. Is this something that affects only boxers? I'e never heard of this before and have never had a dog with symptoms like I've heard described.

Nope, it happens in all dog breeds and mixes. Just be glad you have not had it happen
