An encounter with 2 ROTTIES!!!

Our new neighbor has two not so nice looking rotties who I might add are XXL compared to Tyson and Ali. In the middle of studying for a final my BF called to inform me that the rotties had broken down the fence and our kids had met them ( the neighbor called). I was soooo scared that the rotties had hurt one of our babies!!! I rushed home to find a few boards had been broken free and the neighbors rotties had NOT come into our yard rather our boxers went into theirs!!! They enjoyed each others company ALL day until Dad came home and fixed the fence!! sneaky boxers!

Hope this does not lead to many problems though! My neighbor behind me has two weimeriners and the same thing happened to us. The dogs would take turns breaking into eachothers yards and having play time! The "daddy's" got tired of fixing the fence though! :o

We had a similar thing happen to us. We have two pitt bulls on the other side of the fence. Normally they are in a dog run and only seem to be out when the owners are home. They constatly bark at Vegas when we are outside playing and Vegas takes no notice of them. One day we were out and the dog was barking at the fence, I guess he had enough of Vegas running by the fence (which is an 8ft wood privacy fence) so the male Pitty decided he was going to jump the fence to get at Vegas. He got over and went for vegas. Vegas was fine with him untill the pitty grabbed him by his chops and started to shake and be nasty. Vegas got loose and is much more agile, he turned around and grabbed the pitty right back. The pitty was scared or shocked and started to run away from vegas, he tried to climb the 10ft chain link gate to get away. We yelled for the owners and he hopped the fence and grabbed his dog.

I was freaking out think that the pitt bull would do some damage because they have tons of muscle power in their bite. Vegas came out of it with a little cut, and the pit bull was fine. The owner felt really bad and offered to pay any vet bills. His dog was up to date on its shots so I wasn't to worried in the end.

I was very inpressed that Vegas was able to defend himself against a pitty and then scare him away. Needless to say the dog has not jumped the fence since. I am glad your babies had a much nicer greeting with the rotties.

Well it just goes to show that sterio-types are just a bunch of BS!!!!. Glad to hear someone letting their dogs play with rotties. Our neighbor has one and everyone is in such shock because we let our girls play with him, we even let out 14 month old daughter play with him as well. Sorry to hear about the pit accident, but thats just a few in the millions that dont get along geat with other dogs. Sorry if its off topic, just dont like the sterio-types.

I totally agree with the steriotype thing. My sister has a Am. Staff, and he and vegas are best buddies. Its to bad that these dogs get a bad rap, i have known both pitties and rotties that have been wonderful, loving pets.

I myself like to call them fence dogs! They bark awful loud when you are on the opposite side of the fence but when you get into their yard they just want to play! funny dogs, they remind me of my Physiology professor ALL BARK NO BITE! what a relief!

On a stereotypical note, I am a firm believer that 99% of the time the owner is responsible for the outcome and attitude of their dog! if you teach a dog to be nasty they will be such if you teach them love they will love!

We used to have a rottweiler and I'd have to say that she was 100% better with other dogs than my boxer is. I think that they can be funny with people though because of their protectiveness.

I have had a rotti with my boxer for 8 years and they played together like best friends. My rotti was very friendly with my boxer. Two weeks ago we lost our rotti and Our Uggie has been lost. He hasn't been eating he looks so sad. We are getting Him a new friend next week hopefully He will be happy again. We sadly miss our rotti. Very hard.

We raised Rotties for years (when I lived at home) and for the longest time that was the only dog for me but I have since meet a boxer, who is owned by a friend, and now that is (hopefully soon) the dog I want next.

I was reading the thread from the lady that was walking her dog and the person she always meet told her to "keep that dog away from her" and how bad she felt because the lady knew nothing about her Boxer.

Rotties get the same treatment but it is usually because of stupid owners not knowing how to raise them. Most people are do not understand what it takes to own and raise bigger dogs like a Boxer or Rotty!

I am not one for stupid laws but people that get bigger dogs should be made to take training classes..... and it wouldn't hurt to train the dog also.
