Amputated tail causing loud gas??

The rescue I got two days ago had the remainder of his tail amputated after getting hit by a car. There's a picture of what I call his baboon butt in my gallery. Anyway, I've noticed that he passes gas loudly. I've been hit by the silent but deadly variety from Aphrodite, but never have I actually heard one. Could this be a side effect of his injury?

Poor little guy! It is a very cute tooshie though. I do hear Sammy's poots sometimes... actually hear them more than I smell them, I could say. They aren't very loud, so the little nub might serve as a damper of sorts. Makes sense to me.

My two have their nubbies and at times could put a human to shame with the volumn/sounds that comes out of that end!!!!!

my 4 all have long nubs (4inches) and they can toot VERY LOUD!!!!

Emma is a nubbie, and she can have the toxic gas, though generally not loud ones; my Pointer Orlando is the one who usually makes the noise, and he's got the longer crop that Pointers have. About two months ago, I started giving them a couple tablespoons plain yogurt every night, and it has made quite a bit of difference. I've also heard from other Boxer people that rawhide, pigs ears, etc. are really good at causing gas. I stopped letting them have stuff like that simply because it's so hard to digest and are such choking hazards.

PS: The yogurt has also attributed to much happier sleeping conditions as Emma insists on sleeping on the bed with her butt aimed at my head! :D

Some times we have the silent gas attacks but I personally would love a loud warning so I could run for the door! Most of the time we just hear a little "poof" they we plug our noses!

Both of mine have nubbies and both can clear a room. But of course, they are so innocent!

Maybe it is his diet. Certain foods make more gas than others.

I think it may have been his diet. I always give Dite yogurt with her dinner so I've been giving it to him too. It's day three and he's smelling much better. Still pooting loud but not knocking me down any more. He lets one rip and then turns his head sideways like "Did you hear that...do we have mice?"
