Always licking the female's mouths

My 4 boxers are always licking each others jowls. I do think, now, that it is submissive behavior. Rusty is the dominant male, and he does not lick anybody's jowls but mine!!!! But, I have noticed that Casey licks Rusty's jowls alot, and that Saddam and Rocky lick both Casey
s and Rusty's jowls. I keep thinking they are bothering Rusty and I tell them to stop. Rusty does not seem to like it too much. Casey is a real licker, she is constantly trying to lick Rusty, to the point it is ridiculous. I really learned something today, and I believe there is truth to the dominance thing. Now knowing that it is a respect thing, I will not be so hard on them. Unless Rusty objects!!!!!

I guess it's nothing I should worry about. Rommel isn't around Summer and Chleo everyday so they haven't built up that "puppy tolerance" for him yet. I understand what all of you are saying about the licking being a submissive thing.

I take it that Rommel is showing his respect for them as alpha-s. But what I don't get is that, if we know that, why do these 2 mature females not "enjoy" his respect? I mean, isn't that how they, as dogs, communicate?
