The only real problem that I have with Dozer and birds is that I do believe he seriously thinks he can fly too! The only drawback is that he is on the leash which is firmly gripped in my hands. Actually, I'm holding on for dear life(mine) as we go tearing through the yard.!!! My neighbor got quite a chuckle the other day after Dozer pulled me down and drug me about 10 ft. So, much for the new jeans!!!!! Oh well, how dull life would be without a boxer in it!!! :)

There has to be cat, kangaroo and I think a little monkey in their bloodline somewhere. Oh, forgot fish too. You can just picture Dusty's antics with those traits.

Precious and I just returned from our morning walk and I practically ran to the computer to search out "chasing birds".

We had not been out the front door thirty seconds and she gave me quite a scare! She nearly pulled me to the ground trying to chase a bird. My God, that bird was at least 30 feet away but boy did she want to chase. We have three birdhouses in our backyard and she hasn't yet (we just got her Sunday) noticed them, didn't even cross my mind. Those birds are up high though, this one was just hopping down the sidewalk, I guess they're a little more fun on the ground!

I think from now on I'll take a peek out the front door for any wildlife victims so I can be prepared! :)

Well. Coz got one yesterday. I was watching him out the window while he was in the back yard. He snuck up on a little brown bird that was facing the other way. Coz crept up on him just like a cat. Low to the ground, carefully picking his way. He got pretty close, then stopped, waited a moment, then sprang at the bird. The bird took off and managed to avoid the initial pounce, but unfortantly took off directly away from Coz. Coz sprang up and grabbed him out of the air from behind.

I, of course, came running out grabbed Coz and made him drop the bird, which he did with out much argument. The bird was already dead. Pretty nasty stuff...

Ali hasn't caught a bird yet, but he has tried! They seem to be to quick for him or something. But I never knew my little booger could jump that high! He amazes me when he jumps! Sooner or later he's gonna jump right over my head!

Yeah, I think Coz lucked out in that this one just happened to try to dodge the same way Coz was already going and he was able to snag him. He's gotten close a few times before but usually the bird is much better at picking which way to dodge.

Sometimes I wonder if Mugsy should have been a hunting dog. He chases birds and rabbits and will even point when he sees one. He's so funny to watch because he squats down low to the ground and waits for the perfect moment to pounce. I agree with the poster about them being part cat. He even does this when he's outside playing with my sister's pug. He'll crouch real low to the ground and then attack!!!

Our friend's rescue husky/greyhound mix has started bird hunting too! His tactic is to jump in the middle of a flock... the first time my friend saw him do it, she figured there was no way he could catch one. But sure enough, he pounced, sat down and chomp, chomp, swallow, the bird was gone! YUK! He has managed to do it several times since....

My mom's boxer Tyson...

Caught a baby chip munk- I watched the poor thing die in Tyson's mouth- each time it would *squeek* tyson would spit it out- as we ran towards the baby chipmunk- tyson would pick it up again and run. Finally mom coax'd Tyson to listen to her "bad toy- drop it- bad toy" he dropped it and mom had to burry it. It was sad- but so funny. Peace be to the brothers and sisters of that chipmunk family.
