HELP!! Ali is still peeing outside and pooping inside! I tried waiting with her outside for ten minutes after she peed, I tried the leash, I praised her like crazy when she did go outside! I just don't know what to do!! Today she went out to pee, we waited she came right back in and ten minutes later she pooped! evilicon I put her out and no sooner did she poop again so I wasn't sure if I should praise or ignore! so I praised! She is super sneaky to we tried watching her as soon as she came in and it is almost like as soon as we aren't paying attention anymore she sneaks off and goes!!! I need help this is getting out of hand!!! Maybe I should mention Ali is 21 weeks old! Thanks in advance Tyson and Ali's mom

Be patient, my Cletus was doing this & I think he was confused & thought that was what he should do,this is how I corrected the problem & I really think it was our fault not his. After I thought he had it all down pat,I started having my husband take him out in the morning & thats when he would come back inside & poop, my hubby stayed right on top of him & when he finished peeing, he would bring him inside & I didn't do him that way,so I had to start training all over, with plenty of praise,it took about a month to get him back in his routine, but I think we confused him, cause we weren't both doing the same thing. We are all creatures of habit & don't like changes. This worked for us, just let 1 person work with him, until he is sure of himself & remember he is still a baby. Boxer Pal, Hanley

Do you use a crate? If so, if you think she needs to go and won't go, after 10 minutes outside, bring her back in and put her in the crate for 15 minutes, then take her right outside and tell her to go. If she does, praise like crazy and even have a treat ready to give her. If she doesn't, repeat the crate routine. It might seem like a lot of crating, but she'll get the idea and you won't have to do it for very long.
We also kept a chart of all the times that she went for a week or so--it helped us to figure out when she was likely to have to go.
Good luck and Im sure Ali will figure it out soon!
Oh--also, are you using Nature's Miracle or something similar to clean up?

I agree with Janie (Tanya&Jazz) - keep him teathered to you (and/or crated) for awhile and watch for the cues (e circling, squatting, etc). Hang in there, things will eventually work out - Cathy

Koda was doing the same thing for awhile, but I just realized I wasn't staying outside long enough for him to poop outside. Sometimes it takes awhile.

I know it is frustrating but hang in there, she'll get it.

I waited forever!!!!

So today I did something different and I shut the door and refused to let either dog in until they both had relieved themselves completely! Tyson usually goes both 1 and 2 right away and goes back in but I kept them both out! Tyson was so mad at me and Ali just looked at me like I was crazy and sat next to me for almost 5 minutes! Then she sniffed for like 5 more minutes went pee, took her sweet time evilicon and then finally she went poo! appicon I was so happy I praised her like crazy, I wonder if this isn't the solution and I have been missing it all along! I am such a new mom that I fear my babies may hate me at the end of all this!! Well any way today we party!! fiestaicon We are going to the park and then to scraps the doggie bakery to celebrate mine and Ali's success!

You know I was so proud of Lucy she was doing so well and then yesterday she was running and playing with the neighbors dog and was totally exhausted and when it was time to go to bed (she was already sleeping on the couch) she would not go outside (sometimes i will put her out and she will just look at me like thanks and not go) and in the middle of the night i hear her moving around and i go to let her out but apparently i was to late and she peed on the kitchen floor THEN went outside. i dont know why she does this sometimes. hopefully soon she will break the habit. Cause i know she can hold it at night she does most nights. Oh well at least she is cute :)

What a great story Tyson & Ali's mom! 2 months ago I would not have appreciated this recollection but now that we have an Ali of our own (12 weeks old) I share in your joy. I got the same feeling yesterday when Ali walked into his crate without making me play hide-and-seek with him first :)

Gotta love our babies!
