Has anyone had to have their dog allergy tested?.Chance my 2 year old white has been having problems with his ears for a while now and we have had him on food trials he has been on steroids, but we still cant find the problem. The vet also says that he has a mild skin irritation so has now referred him for an allergy test, which involves him being sedated then being injected with 50 different things to see if he is allergic eg pollen, dust etc. i was just wondering if anyone had ever had this done or heard about it.

Maverick had allergy testing done about 4 years ago and he just had it done like we do. They shaved an area on his back and did small injections and then measured the reactions. He did not have to be out for it though and then we went through the shot therapy and unfortunately, that did not work for us. I hope you find a solution to your baby's problems.

Good luck!!

My boxer was just tested for allergies. They drew blood to diagnos the problem, which turned out to be storage mites and household (dust)mites. Benadryl works fine for the hives and itchy skin, he starts shots next month. We also took his latex toys away (cotton only now) and put him on fish and sweet potato dog food. Good Luck!

We had allergy problems with Bob. He would come in the house after going out to play with the neighbors sometimes and his face would be puffed up like a balloon. His eyes would swell shut and his skin would break out in welts. Baisically he looked like he had been swarmed by bees. It turned out to be a reaction to a combination of table scraps from the neighbors and the soy filler in his dogfood. I hope you can sort out your baby's allergies.
