My Jake is 2.5 years old. We had him on Blue Buffalo (tried chicken and the duck varieties) and he always had loose stools. Changed him over to California Naturals Fish and Sweet Potatoes which he has been on for almost a year now. We kept him on this becuase the Diarrhea stopped almost completely. He is now constantly chewing his poor feet. I dont know what he is allergic to but I have to go tonight to get a new food to switch him over to. I though The Californai Natural would be good becuase of the limited ingrediants but its not working. Anyone have any good suggestions ?????? Should I try a grain fee?

It looks like he needs a change in foods. Have you tried Cali nat. lamb and rice? Also trying a grain free like wellness core might help. I rotate my dry dog food every other large bag but first I had to find out what agreed with her by trying small bags. I think it is good for our fur babies to have different protein sources and it also helps with them not developing allergies. BTW mine didn't do well on totally grain-free but did well when I mixed the two.

My Frazier has allergies and used to get yeast in his ears and rashes on the flap of his ears...I started both of them on Acana, made by Orijen...it's grain free and use a tbsp of wet food, also grain free...they don't get many treats between meals and when they do its healthy grain free...all of that and the use of salmon oil, vit E, total-biotics, ant total-zymes (I order these online) has really helped...both of their stools are normal firm...no loose stool, rarely any gas and their coats are soft and shiny...
I just know that this has worked for me...good luck!!

My boy has severe food allergies. He's actually allergic to the Rosemary in the CA Natural food. Anyway, I use Natural Balance limited ingredient diets. Personally I bounce between the fish and sweet potato and the venison and sweet potato.

Good luck.

As far as food allergies Mia is mild to Potato, Fish, Beef, and Egg. Which just about eliminates all the grain free foods. She's been on Cali Natural Chicken/Rice and Lamb/Rice. I've been able to take her off her one a day claritin with no flair ups, even when my 2yr old throws her a french fry.

My little Rae (almost 4 months) developed severe allergies. She's on CA Natural Lamb and Rice and doing great. You might want to try a grain free food. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I did switch over to the Natural balance grain free Duck and Potato flavor (allergy formula) and its been 2 weeks and still chewing his feet. Now he has not touched the new food at all and he was throwing up the other day. The throwing up has stopping but I just think he does not liek his new food at all. Going to store today to find a new option...UGH

Could it be a contact allergy to grass or something? If he was on the Cal. Nat. for a year, has he been itching the whole time? My girl is allergic to grass and I kept thinking it was the food until I realized that she never itched in the winter.

Thanks for the replies. My boyfriend (who has not done any of the reasearch that I have) went out and bought Eukenuba! Well I said we will try this bag. Well he is feeling much better. He is not chewing his feet and he likes it. Once the little bag was done, i did go and buy a big bag. I figure if I can get his stomache settled, I can try something new (not sure what) in a month or so.
