Check the current active threads. There are at least two on hives, benedryl, cortisone, etc. You can also do a search of all BW threads for "hives" as well. You will find abundant info there.

This is a frequent affliction of Boxers because they are so tender. You need to systemically try and figure out what's causing the hives if they persist. You can find more detailed information with your search.

Also, please don't type in all upper case letters, it's more difficult to read and people consider it "Shouting." Thank you and good luck.

Hi--

We had the same thing happen to us w/ our 7 week old boxer pup after we had him for only 3 days! He was bit by a bug or something on his right eye which swelled up like a goldfish--we took him to the vet and he got some Benadryl. That night he was running around at 3 am and scratching--ended up taking him to the ER and he was put on Cortisone because he had hives. I felt so bad for him!

Griffin is now almost 4 mos old and we haven't had any other problems since but we keep Benadryl on hand all the time, though. I also bathe him w/ oatmeal shampoo coz this is supposed to be good for dogs w/ sensitive skin. I read alot of stuff here on Boxerworld and it seems that it is not uncommon for boxers to be prone to skin/allergic problems.

Good luck w/ your puppy! I hope everything works out!

HI,

I had the same thing happen to Emma our 3 1/2 year old last year she had a really bad reaction to a chew that my sister gave her and she was covered in lumps and bumps.. But only two days ago I came home from work and noticed her 1 eye was a little swollen, within an hour she looked like she'd been in a boxing ring, she couldn't open her eyes and her jowls were so swollen and rock solid (not her usual mushy self). We called the emergency vet luckily i had some Medrone(steriods) for a skin complaint in the emergency box. we gave her two of those and within 2 hours she was back to her usual self
 thank goodness !! I think she had been playing with a Bee or a wasp as this is her favourite passtime
