Hey All...thought I would pass this info on for everyone in the metro DC area.

ALEXANDRIA HOSTS A HOLIDAY PARTY FOR DOGS Alexandria's holiday Spokes-Scottie has invited all his canine friends to a party to celebrate the kick-off of the 2004 holiday season and benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. Of course, their owners can come along, too. Alex will hold his party at Barkley Square, Alexandria's newest dog bakery and boutique, 1 Wales Alley, in Old Town Alexandria on Sunday, November 21, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. The party is sponsored by the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Association in partnership with Barkley Square and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

Alex invites dogs and their owners to come in their best Scottish holiday attire. A holiday fashion parade with prizes will take place at 2:00 p.m. Attendees will be able to meet adoptable dogs from Alexandria's Vola Lawson Animal Shelter. Also, dog owners will have the opportunity to have photos taken of their dogs and made into souvenir photo buttons. Proceeds from the buttons, which sell for $7, will benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. "Plaid," the Scottie dog protagonist of a series of children's books of the same name, will be on hand as will local children's author Leslie Young, who will autograph books for sale.

Also this.....HOLIDAY SHOPPING NIGHT AT TEN THOUSAND VILLAGES

Join the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for an evening of shopping on Sunday, November 21, 2004, from 6 - 8 pm at Ten Thousand Villages, located at 824 King Street in Old Town. 20% of all purchases will go to help homeless animals. Ten Thousand Villages is also a non-profit organization, supporting the work of craftspeople in more than 30 developing countries. All their holiday items will be displayed and you are sure to find a treasure for everyone on your shopping list. The League will be there with hot cider so don't let the winter chill keep you from shopping! For more information, call 703-838-4774, ext. 206.

Sounds like fun! Anyone want to join Bella, George and I?

Looking forward to Sunday! Have a family matter to tend to, so we won't make it until 2:30 or 3. We may have to skip the Old Town event and just meet you at the doggie park around then. See you there!
