afraid of statue

well chloe never ceases to amazes us with her "tough" side. 3 weeks ago i picked up a ceramic squirrel to put in my garden i placed it right up front so you can see it. for 3 weeks chloe has walked past it and nothing, well yesterday as we were coming in (me chloe and husband) she walks past the garden and suddenly jumps straight up and backs up a good distance and starts to go crazy barking at the statue. she would charge it and back up and charge again, it was so funny. so i guess we can add the squirrel to the list of things chloe is afraid of.

Lol she must have been distracted the last few weeks that she only spotted it now. They are so funny when they become protective.

Odie hasn't really reacted to much other than the hairdryer since we brought him home, he isn't even puzzled by the mirror. But on Sunday morning we were going for breakfast for a friends birthday and I had put the gift on the edge of the bed, it was in a yellow box with black circles on it. Odie came halfway through the door and immediately backed up and barked and barked. I had to come out of the bathroom to see what he was on about. Apparently it was that really dangerous box, that did not belong on the bed.

a few houses up our street have a stone elephant in their garden. bailey is obsessed with it. before we reach it he knows & starts stalking it..looking through the hedge and trying to walk quietly! then when we reach it he first stands totally still with one paw in the air, waiting for the elephant to move, then when it doesnt (obviously?) he tries to 'get' it. id love to 'introduce' them properly but its not a neighbor i know & i dont know if they would appreciate a 34kilo boxer leaping about in their garden!!!. im sure he doesnt know its made of stone tho!

Lola's the same with things. She's such a big brave girl.... NOT.

I was painting the fence the other day and left the brushes on the wall to dry after I'd washed them. Lola walked out of the conservatory, saw them and growled and walked backwards back inside the house.
I ignored her (it was hard to though as I wanted to say look it's a paintbrush don't be silly baby and fuss her) and eventually when Zeb came out, picked one up and ran off with it she took one & followed him.

It's funny how Chloe either seems to have just noticed your squirrel or has suddenly taken a dislike to it after 3 weeks

Just a thought

It could be the statue has a scent on it now from some animal, since it has been in the garden for 3wks & she didn't notice it. They rely on their noses as much as sight.

Lol, they are funny little creatures!

Elvis has issues with some concrete lion statues outside a resturant where we live, he would not walk past them so i had to cross the road!

I know what you mean! Buddy will walk passed the fireplace 100 times a day. I put a huge candle in the center 4 days ago. Yesterday, he wants to pick a fight with it. He's so silly!

It's good to know that my girls aren't the only ones on protection patrol (NOT!). Gretchen saved me from a 55 gal drum the other day at training for CGC. She had walked past it 3 times before she noticed it, and jumped a good 2 feet before launching into "protection" mode. Dingy dog Jazz decided that my daughter's suitcase was evil last night and this morning. She would stand in the living room and run into the hall barking like a maddog, then back up without taking her eyes off of it. I feel so safe knowing my girls are on the job. Ha ha
