Advice on owning two boxers

They do say it's easier getting a 2nd after the 1st dog has reached maturity (does that ever happen with boxers ) but I think Lola was 10 or 11 months when we got Zebedee and it was fine.

Max was about 9 mos old when we got Riley. They have done wonderful together. In fact, if I call for them to come in and Max comes all I have to do is ask him where Riley is and he goes back out to find her. He then brings her into the house. It is way too funny how they are together.

Getting two was the best thing for Max we ever did. Riley loves her brother also. She sleeps on him and plays with him contiually.

I can't think of one thing that is a negative. Unless you can't afford them. Two are double the expenses.

Lily was 11 months old when we got Ishie and they say to wait until the dog is 18 months before adding another because it makes training easier (focus on training with one dog at a time). But she did great! It also helped that Ishie is a really quick learner with his training unlike his stubborn sister Lily.

I have 2 males. 6 months and 9 months old. One is submissive and one dominant. Both get along extremely well but they are both puppies. other than the fact they are partners in crime there are no cons and I wouldn't change a thing. I figure if you are feeding, scooping poop, training, and all of the doggie stuff in general, might as well get it all done at once! I like having them so close in age that way they have the same type of energy too. There is no older dog to get annoyed by their crazy behavior! I say Go for it! One is great but 2 is so much more fun! The payoff is double the slobbery kisses and when they cuddle together to sleep it just melts me! lovicon

All of you helped us in making the decision!! Two it will be!! The litter that we are wanting one from was just born on Aug. 13th so we have a little while before we can get it. We just wanted to make a decision to leave it at one or have two before we looked at the puppies!! We appreciate all of your information/imput!

ShaKira was two years old when we added Levi. They have gotten along beautifully so far, he is now five months old. We have a 12 year old female ChowChow and a little Daschund/Chihuahua mix that will be two August 25th, that is female as well. So all in all, we have three female dogs and one male and we rarely have any aggression issues. The only problem that we have is the older dog is losing her hearing and sight and if one of them get too close it spooks her and she will growl and go at them and when they are playing and jumping around she thinks that they are fighting so she jumps up and tries to reprimand everyone. I have found that having two boxers together definately helps keep ShaKira occupied, she used to depend on me so much it was almost smothering but now she has Levi to keep her occuppied. I can't really think of any cons unless it would be more food, more vet bills and more poop.

I have 2 males both neutured and they get along great, they love each other, even spoon each other when they sleep. Boxers love boxers they will however play none stop, and right on you since they can't leave you alone, mine always have to play in front of the tv if the family sits down to watch a movie together, its like family night is to watch them!!
