Advice on owning two boxers

This is the first time I have ever posted anything on BOXERWORLD. I really enjoy reading the posts with all of the helpful information! My husband and I need some help in making a decision. We have an 8 month old boxer - Cassius and we are considering a second puppy. With planning on having a child in the next year or so does anyone have any advice if we will be taking on to much with a baby? Our fear with only having Cassius is that he is our baby now and once we have a baby he will feel left out and we don't want that. So we thought another puppy would give him company and someone to play with. Does having two make that much difference in your household or do they play more together?

Having two boxers is awesome! They have become best buds! Lily (our first) was sooooo attention demanding of us before we got Ishie. Now the two of them play all the time together (and still with us) and our good at wearing each other out. They also come up with the goofiest things

We have 2 and I can honestly not think of any 'cons' to having 2 as long as you have the time and finances to look after 2.

my cassius was sooooo happy when we brought otto home...so were we!!!
I think 2 is better than one and if we had a bigger bed i would even have 3!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are debating a third and still need to get around to having skin kids.

We got 2 as pups 10 years ago and we sadly lost the one recently. So now we still have Sugar aged 10 and Odie aged 10 months. They have a ball together but Sugar is slowing down. We are thinking of getting another to keep Odie busy and leave Sugar in peace.

I can't see any cons on having multiple boxers, aside from a bit of extra poop to shovel maybe. :D

Cassius has also been neutered, but I was wondering if a female would be better choice to get this time instead of a male. Thinking that two males even if they have both been neutered would have more conflict.

OH NO! 2 females are THE WORST combination! The best is male/female, the next best is male/male, the last is female/female.

If you do a search on the forum you'll see that many people wanting to add a 2nd or more to the mix asking the best combos.

I have two..male/female from 2 different breeders..the pups are 2 wks apart in age. I love having two (previously i had only one that passed 12/26/05) and cannot imagine only having one now. Of course its double to poop to clean, double the vet bills, double trouble..but double the love from them

I have 3 boxers, I can't think of any cons in having 2/3, as long as you are prepared to invest in the time, effort and money it takes to look after them I say go for it

I agree. If anything, having two is better than one. They truly make great companions for eachother. I have male/female combo and it worked great. I just threw another female pup into the mix. We'll see how that goes. Although I can't forsee any problems. My older female is a boxer/sheppard mix and she is very submissive. Money is the only con that I cna think of.

Does anyone know what are better ages to add? I want another also, but don't know if its better to add AFTER Brandi has matured a bit, or while she is younger and easier to adapt.
