Yesterday I went to pick up the 8 month old girl we adopted. Currently my house is in chaos. My 7 month old GAGE and her immediately loved one another and have yet to slow down. Running, chasing, barking, rolling, panting, etc you get the idea. It's sooo cute but I'm sure this behaviour of no rest will eventually get tiresome. How long does it take for them to get used to each other and act normal again? Don't get me wrong I'm loving it just curious how long it'll take them to settle down some. Has anyone been in my shoes? I'm having to train her to go out to potty. I'm planning on switching them to innova. In the mean time my biggest complication is getting them to eat their own food. He's on ProPlan and she's on Science Diet dry/canned. Needless to say they want only what they can't have. Any advice? Well that's what's going on around here.

You could feed them at different times. What I did though, was just stand in between the bowls while they eat. That way you are there to tell them no when they try to eat out of the other's bowl. I never quite figured out how to get them to not want the other's food...

Oh, the insanity... My poor (overpriced, new) wood floors are in terrible pain lately. The 2 of them run back and forth from the time we get home and Porter is let out of his crate till about 9pm when they both pass out. In the morning while I am getting ready, if I hear silence, I get very worried.

As far as the bowls, I would stand there and make sure they learn which is their own bowl. Nestle finishes her food and just lingers behind Porter waiting for a stray morsel to fall and roll her way.

the chaos will settle down once they both realize they are there to stay! As for the food . . welcome to the job of Food Police! LOL :D If you're able, I would get them on the same foods. I had the same problem with Evie &Adam, but after a few days to trying to get them to eat their own, I just gave up and switched them (not much of mixing the foods either). Both dogs did just fine with that fast switch.

It will calm down I promise. Give it a few days or a week. They will each realize the other is staying and they will go about their business a little quieter. I too started feeding Muggsy and Jack the same food. The puppy food doesn't hurt Muggsy since the vet said he could stay on it until he was two. Good luck and keep us posted.
They eventually calm down. We have had 2 boxers for 3 months now and things have finally settled down. Like everyone else has said they just need to realize that they are both staying there. I think Roxy was waiting for Grady to leave and he never did. Also with the food try to put them on the same food eventually. It is SO much easier. Whenever I watch my sister's dog Roxy can't get enough of her food. It is so funny, they ALWAYS want what they can't/shouldn't have.

We're having a break through moment here. It's totally quiet. Yep, they both passed out after hours on hours of play. I was really worried about how hyper they've been. GAGE even threw up after drinking because he's so excited. I'm looking forward to having a couple of normal boxers around. Boxers are hyper enough without an adrenaline rush. Ha! Well I think they're up and at it again. Gotta go take my potty trainee out.

There is no such thing as a "nomal" boxer. Your life will never be the same, but it is a good thing. I have only had my second one for 3 weeks and it is still pretty hectic but I have managed to get them to "relax" and exist in the same room while laying down, but only for a few minutes at any time. Love the fun though. I feed mine separate but that is because of the age difference. Toni has been off of puppy food for several months.
