Is it best to bring the puppy home in the p.m. or a.m. Might sound like a silly ? but my little girl will be ready to go on Tuesday November 22nd. My dog loving boss gave me the 23rd -27th off to have a small vacation with her. He's also letting me bring her to work for a month or two (great boss huh?) Anyway, any thoughts about getting her on Tuesday night? I read it's best to get them in the a.m. before they eat so as to not get car sick. We only have an hour and 1/2 ride home. I'm so anxious though and would love to get her the Tuesday night before but I don't want her to be upset or traumatized. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Now that is not fair!!! I want to move to Mass and work for your boss!!! I have to sit here and miss my baby all day!! :(

We brought Rocky home at about 8/9:00 on a Friday. We had about a half hour ride home and he did great. Just sat there next to me. He did shake a little bit. Then just as we pulled down our street he threw up like 3 pieces of food that he had eaten at the breeders just before we got there. While at home he was shaking because of course he didn't know where he was and also because we have tile floors that are very cold haha Most of the time he sat in my lap and slept. That's all they do when their that young anyway is sleep.

We got Maxwell about 5pm on a thurs. The ride was approximately one hour. He did great. He sat/layed in the back with my grandson.

My breeder was only a half hour away, but the baby did just fine. Had some bad gas, but that has nothing to do with the car ride. Get her at the first possible chance.
Congrats and good luck.

Thanks for sharing

Well, it looks like it's unanimous and getting her at night would be okay. I can't wait!!! I'm driving everyone crazy! All I do is think about my new baby girl Zeena. I am going to visit her once more before the three weeks is up because I can't stand being away from her. I want to have her in my arms as soon as possible. So, I feel confident about picking her up in the evening and thank you all for your responses. What a great site this is. So glad I found it and so looking forward to being Zeena's mom. Thanks all!!!!! Lisa

And one more thing to Rocky D

Yes, lucky to have such a great boss. I have helped him with his dog a number of times and he was just great offering me to bring my new puppy to work, at least for a month or so. I am really lucky and grateful that I have the love and time for this new little girl. If you come to Mass ever, I know a lot of dog loving bosses!!!!! Lisa

I would think at night would be better. That way they can't really see out the car & get car sick or scared? I don't know. I have brought a puppy home at night before & it was totally fine. It was about a 2 hr. trip.
Congrats & good luck to you!

Lisagail,

I drove once a week an hour each way to visit Maxwell. We picked him out at ten days old and didn't get him till he was almost 8 wks old. I wouldn't have done it any other way. Congratulations on your new girl. Zeena is a great name. I can't wait to see pics and hear all about your life with your baby girl. Is she brindle/fawn?

To Maxwell's Ma, Zeena is a light brindle and I think the runt of her litter as we visited her this past weekend and saw all of her littermates. They are all full of pep with great personalities but we picked the right little girl. Can't wait to have her home!!!!
