Boxer Insane
My rescue does require a fence, but we are willing to look at each case individually. But like Claudia said, we have been burned many times, and it is the dogs that pay the most :(

I like the idea of calling/emailing the rescue and asking for a referral to a shelter or to someone who is trying to re-home their dogs. Rescue's sometimes help owners who either need or want to rehome thier dogs connect with people that are looking. Your case would be one where I would forward to a re-homer, letting the org. owner know that it was the "fence" thing that denied your application. It is worth a shot.

There are a few boxer rescues in SE Michigan, so, try them all. You might find that they all have the same requirement, but it can't hurt to check. Also, another poster mentioned trying the shelters/Humane Society. They do sometimes get boxers in, and their requirements are often less strict than the rescue groups. Good luck -- and good for you for trying so hard to rescue/adopt!

I volunteer with rescue by doing home visits (inspections). but first and foremost, hubby & I have three boxers. our rescue doesn't require that you have a fence, but at the same time, we are very careful in placing a dog in a home without one.
when we had only two boxers, we didn't have a fence right away. and, i must say, it was not easy to exercise and/or walk them. 4 months after we adopted the second dog......we put up a fence. and, the day the fence was completed, hubby and I asked ourselves how we ever survived without it. sure, we did it. but i must say it was very difficult.
I don't want to discourage you. I am just being honest with you.
is there anyway to save up and put up a fence before adopting your second dog? when you have two dogs you have to give them a place to romp and play...and they love the room to play.
again...I am not trying to discourage you. i am just sharing my own experience. watching the dogs run and play in our big backyard........is priceless. they have tons of fun. if you don't have a fence, you are somewhat limiting what the dogs can/can't do.
good luck!
