Completely Boxer Crazy
hi we adopted a 3 1/2 yr old female boxer about 7 months ago. we have her original papers (the people who breed her) but we would like to have her put into our name. the breeder will not return my phone calls so i was wondering if anyone knew how to put her into our name? we had her checked out and she is fine, but we do know she has been through 3 owners before us (we don't know why she is great with our other boxer and with us) we and our vet also believe she has been beaten in the past, when we got her she was covered with knots and terrified of us. like i said she is great with us and her new sister; and when we have company she just runs into our room and hides. anyways, i was just wondering if anyone knew of something we could do?

look on the back of the registration, I believe there is something the previous owner needs to sign to show the transfer of ownership.

(sounds like I am talking about transfering a car title)

Unless you're going to show or breed the dog, there really is no reason to register the dog.

You say she was adopted... most rescues retain superior title.

And--- if you are competing in dog sports like obedience or agility you do not need the AKC papers. You can apply with the AKC for an ILP registration which involves submitting pictures to the AKC and the dog will be allowed to compete.

Many other venues like UKC, USDAA, CPE or NADAC allow all dogs to compete- even mixed breeds and do not care about papers. You can apply as a boxer with photos or just apply as a mixed breed.
