My 10 month old (Shillelagh) has had adolescent vaginitis ever since we brought her home. The vet said it would clear up after she was spayed. She was spayed four months ago and she is still having the problem. The antibiotics she was on prior to her spaying helped a little, but it didn't clear it up completely. Any suggestions, or home remedies?

I wish I had one! Xena too has had this wonderful problem since she was eight weeks old. She's been on antibiotics, we got Hibitane (sp?) soap to clean her with, we've been feeding yogurt, she was spayed 8 months ago...nothing has helped.

Everyone thinks it's just hilarious how Xena has to get her peepee wiped when she comes inside from potty trips. Yeah, it's a bloody hoot! And Daddy always forgets - so I'm always finding little yellow spots on the floor!

If anyone has a cure, PLEASE post it!!

We had this with Darby too. She displayed a whitish yellow vaginal discharge periodically through her life. We treated her as a puppy but the antibiotics didn't seem to improve the condition. The condition cleared but reappeared at times and then was back full force when her cancer was diagnosed. I don't think though that there was any relationship between the cancer and the vaginitis. I just think that her immune system was suppressed. I wish that I could offer more help. It was for Darby a benign condition but the spotting was yucky! Good luck.

My pup, Memphis was also diagnosed with that too. She is 3 months old. The vet put her on antibiotics for 10 days and it did not clear it up. She returns to the vet this Saturday and he wants to do a blood panel on he to see if it is bacterial. She acts like nothing is bothering her, but sometimes she does clean that area quite a bit. I will post after her vet visit and let you know what happened. Good luck!

My 12 week old was just diagnosed and the vet put her on Cephalexin. She said that it will clear up if I wait until after her first heat to spay her. Have you heard that?

Hi,

No I haven't heard of that. My vet wants to spay Memphis before her first heat. Actually, I've been watching her and I have noticed the discharge is gone (for now). Now I have noticed white spots on her hind quaters and going up through on her both sides. When I pet her her hair falls out like crazy. So that will be another thing to add to the list for Saturday!
Hey is your antibiotic orange liquid? She loved to take that!!

4month old Meg has discharge

We are going to take our 4 month old Meg to the vets tomorrow. We just noticed after she pees that she has a mucusy discharge hanging from her pee pee. :(. Then I noticed on her walk today that it happens even when she is not peeing. She is acting fine but is licking quite a bit and her older brother is licking her too. I do not want to put her on antibiotics. Did you find out anything from other people? Is this what you had also? Thanks and hope your little one is feeling better.

The medicine is actually a pink liquid. Bentley loves it! I sure hope that everyone's pups clear up! Good luck!

Mabel (4 mos.) has this too. But my vet hasn't put her on meds, and doesn't seem very inclined to. He said this is quite common. He just wanted me to wipe her with a clean, wet washcloth. He has checked her on every booster visit, and said the area looks fine. The only thing he wanted me to try different was to now use a non-alcohol baby wipe.

If everyone will send me your email, I will send you an article I found, since I can't attach it here. Thanks!
