Our beautiful white boxer Lexi is now almost five months old, and boy oh boy is she being stubborn.

We have been using gentle leader for her walks, and that seems to have improved our ability to walk her without pulling significantly! But she still manages to somehow paw it off every once in a while.

Our biggest challenge right now: in the middle of a walk she'll just lie down and not move. Granted there may be a heat factor right now - with the humidity it was already 35 celsius this morning for her walk. Ended up making it short and just getting her back to the air conditioning.

Anyone else have this wonderful experience where they play dead dog at the worst possible time? Thank goodness she's still only about 40 pounds. But if she does this when she's a little bigger, i'm in trouble!!

Both of our dogs do that but, when they do, it's because they well and truly have had enough. I trust their judgement since they both love walks so much and I try not to push them that far.

Wow... that's 95 Fahrenheit... Hot Hot Hot for the little pup for sure.

Our little girl was stubborn for awhile, well... she still is be is better. She would "dig in" and stop on walks. It was quite funny... we'd be walking along and then she'd just plant her front paws and tug back against the leash until we turned around to see why she'd stop. She'd then look at us and start walking again... it was like she just wanted us to know it was her decision to be walking, and not ours... ;)

Glad she's not the only one... there was a boxer/lab at our puppy training class last night and he's been doing the same thing in this heat. It is what it is I guess.

Puppy training will help - by the end of the hour she was either just too tired to misbehave, or was actually behaving because the lightbulb had gone on... i'm not sure which yet :)
