My husband and I will be having our first child the end of this month (hopefully earlier!) We have been preparing our 2 Boxers for her arrival since we found out I was PG. They are used to all her toys and clothes and pretty much aren't really interested in her stuff. The last 2 weeks they have been so bad while we're at work, I wonder if anyone has similar stories or can give me some insight as to why they are behaving this way. Our female who will be 2 we've had since she was a puppy and our male who is turning 3 we adopted in April. They've always been really good having free run of the house, never any problems until last week. Anyone?

dogs are very "in tune" with how people are feeling. Maybe they are sensing that your body's changes in preparing for the baby?? I know someone who has an assistance dog because she has severe seizures- the dog senses the change in body chemistry. Same type of thing.

Congrats too!!! :D

Jenny,
Thanks for the reply! I'm sure hoping that them acting up means I'm going into labor soon! I do believe they can sense something is different with mommy. My 2 get very excited when we come home and normally jump all over us, except they stopped doing that with me shortly after I found out I was PG! They are very smart dogs!

We have a 2 year old female and a 9 month old skin baby boy.
Nestle was teriffic all the way through but once I got home (still
behaving wonderful) she let me know she was unhappy.

I was very sick after delivery and used most of my energy to care for the
new baby and my hubby was with Ness...

I was at the kitchen sink and she came up to me and kept pushing against
my legs and once I turned around, she peed right there in front of me at
my feet. (she has not had an accident in the house since she was about 4 1/2 months old)... Once this happend, I spent mommy/nestle time with her every day and still do.

Give your babies a little extra attention now to ensure them that they are not being replaced and be sure to include them in all the new events whether it is setting up a toy or once you have the baby, embrace their curiosity and make them a part of it all. We also gave Nestle treats when she would come into Cole's (our son) room so she associated him with happiness.

Good luck and I wish you a smooth easy healthy delivery.

Elyse Thank you for the tips. So far we've been really trying to include them, we show them all her stuff, play the music for her toys, swing the swing so they are used to it when she comes. The last thing I want is for them to be jealous of the baby or feel she has taken their place. I am going to take your advice and give them each some mommy time one on one after the skin baby comes!

Also, make sure to make being around the new baby a really fun place for them to be. We let Nestle give Cole supersize smooches (Cole actually loves it). When my hubby and I are on the floor playing with Cole, you can be sure
Nestle jumps right in front of him an onto our laps. I swear she smiles at him in a ha ha I got mommy and daddy way.

I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it is. The 2 of them are starting to have their own little relationship.

There are lots of pics. throughout my gallery of them together.

Oh, I am sure you heard this. Send the baby's clothing home from the hospital with your husband for your babies to sniff. Nestle went nuts
over the smell.

Thank you! I do have a receiving blanket packed for my husband to bring home to them so they can get her smell. I can't wait to see them interacting! So far the kids they have been around they have been great! I just really want to make sure we treat them the way we always have, they are our first babies, we take them everywhere we go!
BTW I checked out your gallery, the pictures of the two of them are just adorable!!!!
