According to the Free Range Dog Chews website:

Lab Results Confirm NO Pesticides, Melamine, Bacteria, Contaminants
in FREE RANGE DOG CHEWS Treats
We have thoroughly tested our treats by an independent, third-party U.S. laboratory that uses APPMA- and FDA-approved methodology and have found NO Pesticides, NO Melamine, NO Bacteria and NO Contaminants.

They claim there is no bacteria in their bully stick.

How is your boy doing? Did you end up getting antibiotics or did the acne clear up on its own?

Yeah I don't know, many state on here that they can have bacteria (if you go back and do a search I'm sure you'll find the threads).

No he still has them, they're not as bad. I'm probably going to order the antibiotics tomorrow and see if they help.

My Lily gets these pimples/zits really, all the time. So does my boy mix. They creep up when I slack on wiping them off after eating and chewing bones.

I just keep them clean, put neosporin on them and they go away on their own. I am not one to keep using antibiotics. If they rupture, and they do bleed a lot, Daily, I put neosporin on it BEFORE a warm compress for about 10 mins to open the pores and seep the medication in. Then another good warm wash with antibiotic soap and another thin coat of neosporin. They usually are gone within a week or so.

Keeping their faces clean of food and washing their bowls after every meal has kept them at bay. Once I slack, they come back.

But if you read the other posts. He was completely fine for a good 2 months, the ONLY 2 times he's ever had a break out is when he's been given bully sticks. I DO wash his face daily, I've used Neosporin and it's been a good 3 weeks and they're still there. The last time it was at least a month probably closer to 6 weeks, then he had to have surgery was given the antibiotics for that they cleared up and didn't come back until I gave him a bully stick. I don't use antibiotics lightly either, but I don't think his is the normal boxer acne, the more I've read about it online it can also be an internal bacterial infection that causes them, and one of the symptoms of that is the fact that despite treatment they don't clear up which are his. We're going on week 3 or 4 and they don't ever go away.

So I'll use the antibiotics to get them to clear up and then no more bully sticks. if he has another break out then thta's not what it was, if he doesn't then the culprit is obvious. But considering he's only had 2 break outs and both occurred within a couple of days of having the bully sticks (despite cleaning his face after eating them), I really think that is the problem.

And from what I've read, he's also a little old to be having acne break outs.

I hope you find out its just the bully sticks. That would be an awesome fix! Keep us up to date!

ROLOL I do the same thing trust me! No big deal haha. Well awesome fix yes, but then I can't use bully sticks anymore :-( which is not so awesome LoL. Although he IS one that loves Nylabones and his hurley bone so it's far from the only thing he can chew on. But when he's allergic to beef I can't give him meaty beef bones so it starts limiting.

Roxy has a really good case of acne right now. She has had a couple of other outbreaks and that, I thought, was related to giving her raw bones with marrow. I stopped giving those and the outbreaks seemed to stop. But the healing process took weeks.

She had a vet visit today and the vet looked at the severity of this outbreak and suggested doing a skin scrapping to make sure it wasn't a form of mange. She did the scrapping and it was not mange. However she did see pus in some of the pimples and she suggested that antibiotics might help. So she will take one pill a day for 10 days or so. My daughter thinks that this case started when I gave Roxy a treat of sardines packed in water along with her food. No more sardines for Roxy.
