i was just wondering what ace is?

it is a drug that they use to knock your baby out while doing surgery and can be very dangerous for boxers. if you do a search on here u will get loads of info from people who know a lot more than i do.

Actually ACE (Acepromazine ) is a pre-anesthetic.

yes, doa search on here on the subject. There is a lot covered. I myself had a topic on it. Isoflorine (sp?) gas is much better, I think really most any of the gases are safer. I'm pretty sure that ace is an injection... someone correct me if I'm wrong.
My Bichon was spayed last spring with the Iso.

You are correct, Ace is an injection. But like Jan said it is a preanesthetic, an injection given so the pet will calm down for induction to anesthesia. Isoflurine is what is used to maintain the pet under anesthesia, so both are often used in conjunction with one another, just to clear that up.

They are used to relax the dog before. It would be very frightening to suddenly be put under anethesia; even in humans they give valium to relax before surgery.

I believe Valium can be used on dogs as well.
