Hi

My puppy who I pick up on the 20th is on eukanuba at the moment, but I would like to change from reading this forum to either Acana or Orijen.

Acana does not have puppy food option and I am getting confused with calcium levels. What levels should I be looking out for?

I understand that Orijen has 80% protein is this to high? Will this cause him to poo more or any health concerns? Or is it simply may give him tummy upset?

I am all confused

Pretty sure that most of the Acana grain free are All Life Stages so You can feed them to your puppy. The Origen is not 80 percent protein. It is 80 percent meat. The orijen puppy is I think 40 percent protein and the red is something like 38.

Not sure about the calcium levels but if it is an All Life Stages it should be fine for a pup.

The Champion pet foods web site has the analysis for both their Acana grain free and the orijen.

Acana and Orijen are all life stages food. The calcium level should be below 2% for puppies. Both of these foods have a calcium level below 2 (around 1.8 max). I fed my dog Orijen Six Fish and Regional Red for 1.5 years until the recent product change. The higher meat content is too rich for him.

I switched to Acana about 5 months ago. I feed him the Grasslands, Ranchlands and Pacifica flavors of Acana. Acana Pacifica has a max calcium level of 1.6 and a phosphorus max of 1.3. The protein level is 33%.

My boy loves it. He has done great on it. His favorite is the Ranchlands flavor.
