Well Shankley is due to come into season for the first time round about now. I was just wondering if I can doing anything for her or if there is any advice out there that I may find usefull.
My advice is that if you don't plan on breeding, have your dog spayed BEFORE her first heat!
If you plan to let the dog go through its first heat, I would advise doggie diapers! It can be kinda messy.
Maggie is getting spayed today, so I can't be of much help on the breeding/first season issue. But a search in the health forum should come up with some information to help you out.
Good luck.

Dan I know you are worried about Maggie today. But I just want you to know I got Jazmine spayed on THursday-and all day and night she loked pathetic, and very sad. It broke my heart. But when I came home from work on Friday she was jumping all over the place-being as normal as a boxer can be. It was very Hard to calm her down all weekend! She recovered very quickly, and I am sure Maggie will too...
Thanks Lisa. We're going in a 9:30 this morning. Thanks to the good folks here at Boxer World, I'm feeling much better about it all and I'm sure Maggie will come through just fine. Thanks so much for your concern and kind words.

We had Junior neutered a few weeks ago. His original owner never did but he was starting to have prostate infections so we decided to do it. He was so knocked out after the procedure he slept in the car while it was parked in the garage. After a few hours I picked him up (not easy) and put him on the pullout couch. I spent the night with him but he slept non stop through the night. He woke up in the morning, went out side to go the bathroom and went back to sleep. He came to the office with me and slept under the desk all day. I was worried about him but sure enough, the 2nd morning he was all wiggles and ate like a horse.
Other than being more clingy/ snuggly than before, he is doing just fine. He was already pretty affectionate so it was hard to believe he could get more! Hope Maggie does well. Loved her photos!
