We are in the process of finding a pemanent veterinarian for our puppy. Is the AAHA stamp necessary? What exactly is the purpose of AAHA? We got her first exam and shots from an AAHA vet in another town. However, the second series came from a non-AAHA in our town. I admit, it was in consideration of price. In fact, there was a $45 difference. The AAHA folks required a second exam and the non-AAHA said only the shots were necessary. Please help me be smart!

To be honest, I've never even paid attention to whether a vet has AAHA accreditation or not. I just look at the clinic, evaluate the staff and vet, and see if they meet my criteria ;)

Here is a little bit about the AAHA accreditation process:

I will say that anytime a dog is in a vet's office, they should get a physical - check ears, eyes, teeth, listen to heart, etc. It takes all of 2 minutes. This is especially true if the vet charges for an office call on top of any other services they may provide.
