I don't really have any better advice than you've already been given. Just wanted to tell ya we're thinking of you and praying ya'll will be safe. Me friends husband works for a contract power crew and they're in Ft Myers waiting to be needed, so everyone in that area is being thought about, trust me.

the puppy pads should be good enough for them to use. they are "scented" w/some kind of thing that makes them want to go on them. he will know if you lead him there to do his business...
i've been through a few hurricanes in my time. stay safe!! and heaven forbid that something should happen to you but i would make a sign or soemthing saying there's pet(s) in the house in case you are separated from them. this is just a precautionary measure (i have stickers on all my windows saying zeus is in the house!!) for people who come through to check on residents!!

I also have a 11 week old puppy and am sitting in the path. Luckily I am inland so some of the brunt will be diminished but I was also planning on a spot in the garage with newpaper although she has never used that before. I am just hoping for the best.

Storm in FL

Just want to say that I hope you all are safe and dry. The storm turned out to be very bad. My brother and his wife are on their way back to their home in Key West....they will not have damage any where near what is expected in Port Charlotte, etc. Stay safe.

I hope the puppy did well.

WOW! Thanks for all the replies. It is now 845, and the hurricane missed us, I dont know how, but it did. it made a decent right, and missed the tampa bay area, someone is looking out for us. we got some rain (no more then ordinary), and it was slightly breezy, NOTHING like what happened south of here, where the storm hit land (a category 4 storm, 140 mph +). I hope everyone, and thier pets/kids made it out safe down there, they got slammed hard. oh and sorry to everyone who is inland, they werent supposed to get that much of it, but it went that way, and now they have to suffer :(

Anyway, Bauer is almost 11 weeks old and hasnt completely picked up on always going outside, so we were planning on just "letting" him have an accident indoors. but, we fortunately didnt have to come to that.

We were in Hatteras on Aug. 3 when Hurricane Alex hit. We woke up and it was pouring down rain and the wind was blowing like I've never seen. I walked Lacy in a semi-sheltered area and she quickly peed, but wouldn't poop. Several times during the day I tried to coax her outside into a sheltered area to go to the bathroom. She refused to go outside and never had an accident. The storm was through our area by dinner time that night, and when Lacy finally went outside, she immediately did her business. Lacy is 4 years old so she is fully housebroken. If I had a puppy, I probably would have put newspapers down in an out of the way place (like the basement or near the door) for the puppy to use. Dogs can be so funny sometimes about where they go to the bathroom. I remember one time we had a heavy snowfall. I tried to get Lacy to go to the bathroom on our covered stoop because the snow was too deep in the yard. She absolutely refused to pee on the concrete. We finally had to shovel a space in the yard for her and she happily went out and used it!

Just hoping that everyone that was in hurricane charleys path is ok. It hit SC a few hours ago, but we're safe from it being that we are on the west side of SC. And it's starting to lose some of it's power, it's down to 80 mph winds. just sending some hugs and good luck vibes to the not so fortunate ones out there.

I am sad to say the hurricane did not miss us. I live in Osceola county and am still without power and they don't know when we will get it back. The pup is suffering from the heat but so far we are doing ok. I lost my patio, pool and fenced in back yard as well as about 1/2 the shingles off my roof (no leaks yet but it rains every day so it is just a matter of time). It was the scariest thing I have ever been through but the puppy was unfazed. she is only upset that I don't let her run around the back yard (what is left of it) anymore.
