A new treatment thats easy for DEMODEX

Okay,

I may have missed this & you guys know about it already, but my vet has just phoned me to advise that BAYER are guaranteeing the product ADVOCATE for treatment & prevention of Demodex.

3 spots on their backs once a month, nothing could be easier!

Is it used for dogs that have demodex? are they like the flea prevention drops? How much is it going to be? Is there any other info? Yes I am interested...GUinness is doing good but is still getting new spots...

Advocate is currently on the market in Australia. There's no indication that it is near release in the US. It is a flea/tick/heartworm/intestinal worm/sarcoptic mite/ear mite/louse killer.

Basically, it's a combination of Advantage and ProHeart (which, you'll recall, was recalled by the FDA a few months back).

There's nothing in the current literature about Demodex.

The new literaturs is coming, we only found out about their new claims due to the fact their rep was in when Major was having his follow up visit & the vet mentioned to her how he was when we started the treatment in Sept! She advised Advocate will now treat mange.. So the vet asked her a few questions & then rang Bayer & got them to fax back in writing a Guarantee that this will work! They have also guaranteed that they will refund the cost of the advocate (approx $55.00aud for 3 tubes/3mthly treatments) plus pay for costs involved with me having to go back onto dectomax if the Mange reoccurs! We couldnt ask for more, at this stage new literature is expeted in 2-3 mths.
