Boxer Pal
Dear God, Since Honey came to stay with you last week, I figure there are a few things you need to know about taking care of her.
She is very sweet, but tempermental. She is a Princess, and she is well aware of this fact, so treat her accordingly, and she won't snub you. If you get busy and forget about her for awhile, she will pout and you will need to rub her belly and chest for at least 15 minutes. Don't try anything else, as she won't respond.
She doesn't like anyone around when she is eating. You can be a few feet away, but don't watch her. It makes her nervous. She has very few teeth, so give her the small kibble and only the best quality lamb meal. And please don't let any other dogs around or she may eat THEM.
She likes to do her business alone, too. SHe is a very private girl, and quite modest.
Don't ask her to do anything unless you have a cookie on hand. She prefers the red ones, so save them for big favors, like bathing.
Honey sleeps on the big bed, so move over. She hates covers, but requires a pillow and will share yours nicely. She doesn't drool...much. And she never has morning breath (because she is a Princess). Don't wake her too early or ask her to move if she hogs the bed. Just get up and walk around the other side and get back in. It's easier.
She loves soft, fuzzy toys, especially lambs and bunnies. Yellow is her favorite color, and she treats them gently. Sometimes she will bring them to you and she will have a dark look in her eyes. Try to take them from her mouth, try hard, and she will never let go, but she will love you for trying. And don't put them up on the mantle when you are vacuuming, because you will forget and wonder why she is moping around.
Honey is very sociable, but also very selective. She only like other dogs, cats, and people who respect her eminence and let her have the last bite, the first drink, and first dibs on the sofa. No other dog may get onto the sofa until she is settled in, and they may not come anywhere near the human whom she is settled upon.
She also loves to chase cats and rub her face in their bellies when she catches them. She won't hurt them though. She is only rough with dogs, but she doesn't bite unles bitten first.
The most important thing of all is that she needs to lick you a lot. I would suggest showering at night before bed and letting her have her way with you all day. She isn't sloppy, just very amourous. She needs lots of kissing time to be completely happy. SHe also likes to lick your legs when you step out of the shower. She especially likes a little moistuizer on your legs, any flavor.
And be sure to let her go for one good run every day. She is faster than the wind and will always come back with her huge tongue hanging out one side ohf her mouth and a big smile plastered on her face for hours.
Take care of our girl, Lord. She is truly special and the best friend you will ever have. Thank you for giving us the time we had with her. We loved her as much as you do and will never forget her. Let her know that she is in our hearts all of the time and that we look forward to seeing her at the Rainbow Bridge some day. And we promise to bring cookies.
