A little worried

Hi all~

Boston is 9.5 months old and was gaining weight steadily. Over the past month, he has lost two pounds. I feed him according to the chart on his bag of food (Eukaneuba) and walk him just as much I have in the past. He also seems as though he does not have as much energy as he used to. When I take him out for exercise, he is very energetic; but when we are at the house he is no longer interested in playing. Is this normal for puppies to go through?

One more worry while I am here...thanks for being patient! I crate him throughout the day while I'm at work and over the past month/month and a half, I've come home to puddle of clear liquid inside his crate. My friends tell me it's probably just drool, but the only time I've seen him slober was while exercising and its not a significant amount. He has not been "fixed" yet, could he be ejaculating when he gets excited throughout the day? The blanket that I put in the crate is also always soaked by the time I get home and I'm convinced it can't be slober.

Thanks for reading...any suggestions and/or opinions will be appreciated! I'm not only a first time boxer owner, I'm a first time dog owner and my friends keep telling me I worry to much about him...I can't help it he's my baby!

Have you explained these things to your vet? While he may just be going through a phase, usually sudden changes in behavior are a good indication of something medical. You might want to look into feeding him a better quality food though, Eukenuba is icky stuff...
Have a look here and see how it rates:

Look for something in the 4,5,6 category. ;)

As for the crate, more than likely what you are coming home to is drool, have you ever noticed any anxious behavior from him by being crated before?

Thank you!

Wow, I had no idea that Eukanuba was low quality. Thank you for that information! Also, Boston is going to the vet next week so hopefully we'll get some answers on that!

He does hesitate to get in his crate when I'm off to work. Maybe he does have some anxiety during the day while I'm away. I don't crate him during the night, he sleeps on his bed in my bedroom; therefore, that could very well be the cause!

Thank you so much for your opinion...
