Yep, I would have to agree to give her enough time to do her business. I've seen our chihuahua go pee in about 3 different spots. He is a little fella so you know she has more room to store it, so she need a little time to get rid of it. Let her run around and get some exercise. We all know how much energy they have.

We just brought our new girl "Tae" home three weeks ago when she was 9 weeks old. The breeder suggested we hang some jingly bells on the door that would make a bit of noise where she would be going out to "get busy", and each time we took her out to bump her paw or nose against the bells with the cue "out".

We did this every time we took her out (after waking, playing, meals, etc.)and lo and behold, only after ten days she began to go to the door and ring the bells once or twice a day. Then about three days ago she began ringing them everytime she has to go out and is having no more accidents in the house. It has really taken the guesswork out of her doggie signals! Give it a try, it really works!

We use a bell on the door, too, and I recommend it if people are really having trouble with housebreaking. A word of caution, however.

Boxers, being the incredibly creative dogs that they are, can soon extrapolate the bell to mean "I want to go outside to play," "I want a drink of water," "It's time for dinner," "I want a snack," "Get off the computer and pay attention to me," or any number of things :) Just be prepared that, once the dog is older and you know he can control his bladder, you might have to just take the da*n bell of the door for a little peace and quiet!

Three of my five use the bell for multiple meanings. The other two don't use it at all, and instead have trained the others to ring it for them (I am not kidding!). You really have to admire them....

Ah, yes. We're going through that phase now :) I am sticking to my schedule, however (unless of course she has some stomach distress, which she does sometimes). But boy, does she try to fool old daddy. I worry that she really does have to do business, but I also know she is capable of holding it now. I just have to be firm and say no, when I know she really wants something else (usually to play with some dog she heard barking outside). You're right, she can be incredibly creative when she wants something. evilicon
