A Last Resort

As some of you know, Markus has arthritis in his spine. It severely affects the nerves that go down his back legs to the point that he no longer has control of them. He gets his legs crossed repeatedly and he falls all the time. :( I took him to the vet today with the thought that he would tell me it was time to put him to sleep. He really thought that we should try Prednisone first. He gave him a shot of pred. and gave me some pills to bring home. He didn't even charge me for any of it. He said that the effect would be dramactic if it was going to work. I haven't seen any change so far, but I am hopeful that maybe by tomorrow. My vet will phone in the morning to see how he is.

Please send some positive vibes this way. I think Markus needs all the help he can get.

Back legs going bad

Hi

Will send you lots of love and prayers. Our beloved Dancer had the same problem. She was very healthy and then all of the sudden when she had just turned 11, the back legs started going. We did acupunture for several months which she really loved but, in the end, she could barely walk and going to the bathroom was a real challenge. We asked our vet and she said we would know when it was time. Dancer was a very proud girl and when her bathroom habits became an embarrassment for her, she told us it was time. She went to heaven happily in our arms and we still miss her terribly even though it's almost a year and a half now. But she is running like the wind now and waiting for us in a better place.
