A few pictures from our New Orleans trip with the boys

Hi everyone
So we took our boys on a 8.5 hours trip from Dallas, TX to New Orleans, LA.
They did GREAT!
We had found a dog friendly hotel which was awesome, because it was way too hot for the doggies to be outside. We always had 2 bottles of water for them, but the heat was just too much.

DH and Oxford, walking from St. Charles St. to Magazine St. on Saturday evening. It was a bit windy so nice to walk...

At a café on Magazine St. (not so friendly with DH, but ok with me.. i dont know what was the deal there..)

Then on Sunday, we decided to take the doggies on the river walk.. Well it wasn't a great idea. We thought there would be a fountain so they can get wet... but nothing :(

Snatch collapsed on the ground right after. So we took the boys back to the hotel (mind you, after only 10minutes outside...)

Monday morning.. went to Audubon Park on St. Charles before hitting the road.. well.. I thought the lake would be nice for the doggies.. but it was dirty water.. so here again.. too hot for the doggies...

So we left after 5 minutes, and took the highway back to Dallas.
You can tell Snatch was EXHAUSTED!!! He actually fell asleep, sitting in the car!!

I know Snatch has a slight heart murmur. Nothing medical with Oxy.. But are your boxers that way? I know they are BAD in Dallas. It's too hot (for me too!) but I swear, if the temps are higher than 85F, I can not walk them more than 10minutes. Snatch collapses on the ground and Oxford walks like he's dying...

Anyway.. we had lots of fun! New Orleans is really a lively and fun city!! appicon

I love road trips with the dogs... somehow they make things so much more interesting And not having to leave them at home or in a kennel is a HUGE bonus Glad you got to take them along this time!

I loved going with my boys too they are so sweet and were so great to wait for us at the hotel (of course, the soooo enjoyed our beds!)

On sunday night, we went out on Magazine Street again, eat at a Greek place. DH refused to take the dogs.. which made me mad because the restaurant was ok with dogs outside, and then we went to the Bulldog, a dog friendly bar.. (also made me mad because i was freaking out walking there from the hotel, and Oxy is the BEST bodyguard ever!)

I guess I am way more into dogs than he is. He said he didn't want to bother with Oxy reacting to anyone.. **sigh** ~ IMHO, he will never get better if we don't work with him and present him to situations... also, he NEVER reacted in New Orleans to any dogs. I think he was way too hot and too overwhelmed by the new surroundings to even think about it

Anyway.... Fun trip!!!! appicon

Yeap.. they are day and night!
Snatch is 49lbs (7.5 years old) and Oxford is 69lbs (almost 4 years old)

And this picture was taken in December 2008, Oxy was only 1.5 years old

Snatch does that quite often, when Oxy is in his way, his just goes under him

I am so glad you had a good time, despite the heat. Oxy does have one long tongue! I've always likes traveling with my dogs.
