March Boxer Bash
Hi everyone!
Quiet Waters in Annapolis on March 20 at noon it is! I can't wait to meet everyone.
I took Sadie to her first dog park today. The White Plains Dog Park in Waldorf is actually only a few miles from our new house. It is actually a part of a huge park (White Plains Park) with a golf course, a skate park for kids, baseball and soccer fields, the dog park and tennis courts. I was impressed! The dog park had two fenced-in areas (a small one for small dogs and a big one for bigger dogs) with 30-40 dogs in the park at any given time (at 3:30 on a Sunday.) They had a water faucet set in it's own area with a rock surround (so it wasn't muddy) and a bucket for all the dogs to use. There were several doggie bag dispensers and recepticals around the perimeter, although there were a dozen or so piles in the area that the owners had neglected to pick up :(
As for Sadie, she did well with the other dogs, but did get into it a couple of times with other dogs. She is a small boxer, but she held her own with a couple of Siberian Huskies

To comment on her bullying capabilities, she did go after smaller dogs twice. We used to live next to two families with stupid little yippy dogs who weren't good sociable friends, so she doesn't care much for them.
:p
Maybe we can look forward to meeting at the White Plains Dog Park in Waldorf on April 2 at noon for the next bash! It will be long enough for everyone to be ready to make another trip, and those who can't make it on the 20th can come then. Waldorf is 13 miles from exit 7 off of I-495 (7 miles from the MD-VA bridge just South of D.C.)
April 17 - maybe we can do something in VA or DC to move things around a bit. Just remember we all want to use a low/no fee park with fenced in areas for those who have runners when suggesting parks. Use the parks you know, and check the link I submitted on the thread page prior to this one. If you guys visit or have visited other parks, submit your thoughts on them for everyone.
