$800 is a normal price for a wel bred boxer puppy however he sounds like a "byb". I paid $750 for ray. Most members here will tell you the normal price is between $700-$1200 for a well bred boxer. That being said I paid $375 for Lacy.

$800

I agree. I think $800 is just about the going rate. I know it sounds like a lot, but you're really paying for the good blood. Also the breeder will use that money for all shots, and vet checks for the parents and babies.
This guy does sound like he's in it for the money, but I know people have paid a lot more for a boxer-especially if they are show dogs-.

If it's a reuptable breeder than 800.00 is not expensive. I'd have paid 1200.00 and many people do. If people buy a "cheaper" puppy from a BYB (not saying you did) then they are supporting BYB and I'd gladly pay double to get rid of them altogether and not support their "breeding" programs.

We paid a $1000 for Donte & $800 for Deacon (who originally was $1800), but we have become friends with the breeders so they gave us a break on him, because we wanted him so bad. I know what you mean about some people though, there was a breeder here that was charging $700 for unresgistered, non health tested, etc puppies.. that is untill I turned him in & gave him a piece of my mind. :)

For a healthy, well bred, well pedigreed puppy, $800, $1000, etc really isn't a whole lot of money at all.

I paid $500 for Guinness from a BYB who claimed to have done health testing but I never saw any documentation. Now that I've been educated on what constitutes responsible breeding practices, I've already resigned myself to a budget of at LEAST $800-$1200 for our next dog (this is at least two years out, no idea what the going rate will be then but I'll gladly pay it - and not to a BYB ever again).
Guinness is priceless to me, and as such, I would have gladly paid more than I did to have better peace of mind regarding his lineage/parents' health history. It is also worth it if it helps eliminate BYB practices, a small contribution to pay a few hundred dollars more to those doing things the responsible way (besides which they aren't making tons of money, since responsible breeders are certainly incurring more expenses by doing things correctly).

Yes, $800 is not too expensive at all. Unless of course, he offers no evidence of health testing whatsoever on both male and female -- in which case it's $800 too much ;)

We paid $850.00 Canadian for Molly which I think if you were to trasfer over would roughly be close to $1000.00 US funds. She wasn't the healthiest puppy going but that was because of food sensitivities. Her parents were health tested and we were able to meet both of them.
We have a very well mannered and very social dog and I truely believe that it stems from good breeding so to me it was well worth the money.

We paid $950.00 Canadian for Laila. She came from a good breeder. We seen both of her parents and siblings. Her parents were health tested, and Laila health is guarnteed for 3 years. We received her papers and the breeder also sent us home with a 2 week supply of food, a collar and a leash. She was good and Laila is a very happy puppy, loves to play and to be social. Just like most boxers!!!!!!
