8 week old with diarrhea/possible lazy eye?

I just got little elsi on tuesday and she has been having a lot of diarrhea( 9 times in 6 hours). I thought it might just be the environment change but it has been a couple days and she is still having it. Her stool has started to get more solid but then turns runny again. I was wondering if any one else has experienced this. I am going to take her to the vet but not until next week. Is it some thing that i should take her for right away. I was also looking at her and it seems that she might have a lazy eye. I have seen another thread about eyes looking in different directions. This is my first boxer so i don't know if they grow out of it or what. Any feed back would be appreciated.

You didn't mention what you are feeding her? Has her food been changed from what the breeder was feeding?

I not exactly shure what they were feeding her but i am feeding her Purina pro plan for puppies. She was having the dirrhea the first night i brought her home so i figured it was the change of owners.

Nine times in 6 hours is quite a lot for a little pup and can be caused by any number of things (ie parasites, diet, stress, etc). Save a stool sample to bring with you when you go for your vet appt. In the interim, i would stop the kibble for now and just give your pup boiled chicken (or cottage cheese) and rice. Hope your furbaby feels better soon - Cathy

I can think of two things which could be causing this distress right off the bat:

(a) you do not know what your breeder was feeding the pups, so you have most likely switched her food all at once, as opposed to a gradual introduction (blending) of a new food

(b) the kibble you are feeding is of pretty bad quality

Please do a search here of "quality kibbles" and you will find LOTS of good information on foods such as Wellness, Solid Gold, Canidae, Flint River Ranch, Eagle Pack Holistic, etc...

If your pup still has diarrhea tomorrow morning, I might suggest taking her to the vet ASAP. A pup that age is fragile and she may become dehydrated.

Re the eye, I don't know about dogs and "lazy" eyes, but I was born with what some would call a lazy eye (strabismus). It's usually due to a weak eye muscle and at least in humans it isn't outgrown. I can't address the situation in dogs. I had three eye surgeries before the age of 8 to correct my problem and they were a success.

Thanks for the advice i took her to the vet today and he gave he some deworming medicine and gave me some eye drops. He said she looks like she is getting a little infection in her eye. He also said to add some rice to her food and see if that helps.
