Hello everyone,
Well it's been 6 weeks that we've had our 2 babies at home and thought i would post my thoughts and tips that i've found that have helped me with all aspects of puppy care.
Well to start, things are fantastic. Couldn't be any happier. Our little girl Holly has been a wonderful puppy and Tigger our older one has been a wonderful teacher. We have 2 crates for our dogs and when we brought them home they were placed in the living room where most house traffic is. We chose that area cause it would allow them to no feel lonely and would let them feel more comfortable. We recently moved them to their own room which they haven't minded at all. You might all be curious as to how other aspects of puppy care have gone. Well potty training has been exhausting. For the first coupld weeks we experienced many accidents in the house. We knew that would happened and it never phased us one bit. The thing that worked for us was taking her out often. We would allow her to play for roughly 10 minutes or so and then we would take her outside. I would take her to the furthest part away from the house and let her walk. Sometimes allowing the puppy to walk or run gets their bowels going and sometimes it would work. Whenever she would squat I would praise her for what she was doing! I can easily say that we would average atleadt 15-20 visits outside a day. At night I would take her out before we went to bed and then again 3 hrs later (was usually 3am). I can say that all that hard work has really payed off. She now knows to go outside and to give us the sign she will either whine or go to the back door and sit. In 2 weeks we've had 3 oops and mind you she's only 14 weeks old.
Walking has been somethin of a breeze for us. From the first time we put her collar on she just went! I think her watching Tigger walking clued in what she was supposed to do. Now the moment I open the closet to get my coat they are all over me wanting to go for a walk. I think if you have problems with walking a puppy, find someone with an older dog and take your puppy for a walk with em, might just help!!
As far as anything else, we really haven't had many problems besides her being a puppy and doing puppy things. They're both wonderful and wouldn't want any other dog than these 2.
