6 months old

My baby Tia is now 6 months old. My question is that everyone I see writing on here considering their dogs weight at this age say their dogs weigh between 30-35 lbs. So I am wondering if anyone else has a 47.5 lbs 6 month old boxer. Tia weighs 47.5 lbs and I want to know if that is fairly normal or if she is going to be a horse within the next few months. Any comments would be appriciated. Thank you.

Well, it really depends Boxer puppies grow at such diverse rates that weight at a given age isn't necessarily a good guide to how they turn out as adults.

Generally speaking, boxer puppies finish growing upward at around 12-14 months, and finish filling out at 2-3 years. But the grow rates across those time periods aren't even. So it could be that your girl is heading for the size of a small pony, or it could just be that she was a fast grower but will now slow down.

Your best indication of her final adult size is the size of close relatives - sire/dam, grandsire/dam and any older siblings. Still only an indication though - you really just have to wait and see.

gmacleod is right ...every boxer grows at a different rate at different times....Boo had a huge growth spurt between 4 & 6 months of age ...at 6 months he was a whooping 55 lbs. He started slowing down at 9 months ..he was 70 lbs ....now that he is 2 he has been 80 lbs for a while now ..but still has filling out to do..( he just turned 2) & he is 27 at the withers ....Boo's trainer helped me measure him. She owns & shows Boxers so she knows what she is doing. He was the largest of the litter ..and is taller than his very handsome & stunning sire..Speaker. Both his sire & dam are within breed stand. Height & weight vary so much with each & every Boxer.

It sounds like you have a very healthy lady on your hands. You'll have so much fun watching her grow...
