Havent been on here in a very long time! Hate that im back for this reason.

My 5 Yr old Chopper was diagnosed with Lymphoma over a month ago. He went in for his shots and as the doc was checking him she felt swollen lymphnodes so antibiotics for a week then they aspirated.
We have decided to not do Chemo and just give him prednisone. He went from doing really bad to great on the prednisone but im starting to wonder how much more time do we really have with him? How long will the prednisone help? Im really scared for him to just go from relly well to really bad one day. my heart just cant take that.

So sorry you're going through this! Our 10 year old baby was recently diagnosed with Cutaneous Lymphoma (skin). He had several small cysts removed from his head 11/01/10 which came back with the terrible diagnosis! We had an ultrasound and x-rays done yesterday. It doesn't appear to be in any other organs. The Oncologist advised us that it could come back in 1 week or take years to return....we just don't know. I totally understand your fears! It's so hard not to know what to expect!!! We'll keep you and Chopper in our prayers!

I'm so sorry to hear about Chopper's diagnosis. :( I would make an appointment with an oncologist. Your regular vet may be good, but he isn't a specialist and won't have all the lastest info. A specialist also has more experience to draw on. Sending positive healthy ((vibes)) to Chopper.

Sorry... :(

So sorry for you and chopper, you'll be in my thoughts! My 7 year old Rocco just passed away last month after fighting lymphoma that started out exactly the same way, we had just hoped it was an infection at first too. I know it's hard to look at your fur-kid knowing this and not just be sad, but be happy with him - he doesn't really know he's sick, and he'll be happy if you are! I can't say (of course no one really can) how long he'll have, a friend on BW and her dog Faith went with the prednisone, and she got many more months than her vet origianlly said, check out her posts. We did chemo for Rocco along with the pred, so my experience was different. I'm just so sorry, our poor boxers deserve long happy lives, and it just sucks that this lymphoma can hit so young.

I will be sending lots of good thoughts Chopper's way! Take care

Oh Chopper....so sorry......

My Riley also had Lymphoma. When he was first diagnosed, I was devastated. Our Vet is wonderful and laid out all the options. I couldn't do the Chemo; so like you I put Ri on prednisone. It took a few days to get the dosage straight, but it gave us 4 months with him that we probably would not have had.
If you go back and see the thread about "my girl has lymphoma", you can read how a lot of us handled this ugly disease. It was just helpful to know there were many wonderful people dealing with the same sucky situation.
I still stop by a couple times a week to see how everyone is doing, but it's hard.
I will be thinking of you and Chopper.....like Alecia, we know how difficult it can be.
Hang in there and love your baby.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Its just so hard knowing he will leave us soon. it does make me so happy seeing him so bubbly and HUNGRY on the prednisone. Thankfully we didnt have to mess with his dosage at all. I will just ba happy along with my boy till the time comes.
