i appreciate the feedback and help from you guys.. only thing that really has me worried is if my vet will work out payment plans for me or not, because the 250 i spent at the vet on my initial visit really put a damper on things financially, as if they already werent low as is... im sure they will help me out... but then again im a pessimist and if they dont im really worried about what that means i'll probly have to do... :(

Please monitor her closely, we have had a number of these cases in our emergency vets recently - we operate immediately.

When Tara had Pyrometra, my vet had wanted her on antibiotics for a few days before operating. I believe it was to reduce the risk of spreading the infection during the removal of the uterus. It probably depends on the stage of the disease and whether it is open or closed pyrometra.

Good luck!

I think you are right Jan. I work at an Emergency Vet clinic, we only operate in an emergency. We unfortunately had 3 cases in last month, these dogs were crying out in pain when they came into us.

Regandmols - I am wishing you all the best & hope you can work out something with your vet.

well.. bad news, i went to the vet today and they wanted 500 dollars up front and a post dated check for the rest.. i initially agreed and was filling out paperwork, went ahead and called my mom to see if she could shed anything my way to help out, but my sister just went thru surgery, blah,blah,blah... needless to say, i had to put my baby down, as she was beginning to have a greenish type vomit... this is truly a horrible day and i will never forget her.. molly was a bundle of joy and did things ive never seen a dog do... im crying typing this but its just truly the deepest pain ive ever felt... what makes me sick is that i know spaying would have taken care of the problem, which obviously makes me feel way worse... ive learned that lesson though and am going to get my male neutered, as i remember someone mentioning the likelihood of testicular cancer... she is forever my baby girl, i wrote a little poem that i'll go ahead and share with you guys...

You are my girl to the end, seeming closer than my kin..
My heart broken yet again, might just soak the s*** in gin.
See you struggle to get up, loss of muscle, this s*** sucks..
But as i look in ya eyes ... my girl, i'll never give up.
see baby girl i got you cuz in heaven i'll spot you..
Memory burned, so as time turns forget i will not do..

thank you very much for the information as to how to take care of all this, you all were very helpful.. i have a couple videos that i'll be uploading sometime soon to show the great life that she had...

Sorry to hear of your girl. Most lessons learned are experienced the hard way. Hoping you gently recover from your loss and may a future spayed girl fill the emptiness. RIP Sweet Angel.
