5 1/2 year old Male has a new Girlfriend

Well that was the plan anyhow. Unfortunately Im not sure I thought the age difference through. Im curious if any boxer owners have a older dog and a puppy. The new baby girl Lola is 7 weeks and Im a little worried that they will have completely different energy levels in 2 years. Also, he seems to tolerate the baby currently but hasnt exactly fallen in love, which is quess is understandable when you have a puppy hanging off your face 24/7, but im hoping he will warm up to her as she gets older? My last question is in regards to having the new girl spayed. My current male is unfixed and have never had any behavioral problems associcated with not having him cut. So the question is, is getting the female fixed at an early age enough? Will he still try and have sex with her even if he has never done the deed and she is fixed? Obviously im not keen on having him done after almost 6 years but I will accept any sage advice. Thanks in advance.

new girlfriend...

I have a 10 year old male, and his now 7 month old daughter. They get along fine. yes the energy levels are different, but he tolerates her well, and enjoys having her around. Jaxson hasn't been neutered-he was(is) a show dog. So is my puppy girl. If you are not going to show or breed your pup, I would definitely get her fixed. If she does not come into season, he shouldn't try to mate with her. I know how you feel about putting your boy under, I wouldn't consider it with my boy unless absolutely necessary, but your vet should be able to tell you if your boy could undergo surgery with or without any issues.
