"We are not comfortable with this vet and will be changing. We had an earlier experience when Idgie was spayed where this vet's wife/the nurse produced a bill that was considerably over the pre-op estimate. When we enquired why it got a bit awkward and we were made to feel as if we didn't want what was best for our dog and that we should not be questioning. We will not wait until we next need a vet to find a new one. "

Gee that is a bit rough...they should always be ready to explain charges etc..our vet always over estimates so we always end u with a nice little amt left over...good on you for having babies bets interests at heart & I believe that you have made a right decision then.

but if my dog had eaten some eraser like yours I probably would have wanted an xray just to have peace of mind that nothing was blocked or even pierced from the insides... a perforated bowel could be worse. so The xray probably was justified

Sorry, but if I brought my boxers in everytime they ate something inedible, I'd be able to pay off my vet's mortgage by myself! Let's see in the last week-

leather glove, tennis ball, paper, tin foil (this one makes me shudder), plastic wrap, more paper, cardboard, bugs, grass, eraser.

And that's just what I've found!

Karenrunge thats fine you can let your dogs eat what they can & let them just pass it ..it's a personal thing, me personally I prefer to be laughed at..my dogs & i do go towards paying off our vets mortgage..someone has to keep him here in town...funnily enough though there is always atleast 3-4 other pet pedantics in there too... it's a personal choice...my skin babies also go to the doctor for just about anything out of the ordinary..

over pedantic possibly a loving mum definitely...broke..yes all our money goes to our kids & dogs...happy definitely....

Kc $47.50

I posted I was scared Maggie had contracted the Blastmycosis fungi. My cousin's labs and Maggie are usually together on outings...her dog came down with it last year/beginning of this year and is still on 200.00 per month meds. Cost for her w/ everyhthing 2500.00...As well as being afraid of losing Maggie, the cost scared me too. I took her in today...kennel cough from the foster puppy. 32.00 for visit 14.50 for antibiotics. I would ask for a copy of your x-rays and an itemized bill. If you should check into another vet, because now you're always going to be questioning! PS..I knew that Blasto is not contagious from one dog to the next, but they hang out in the same places.
Also I do agree with the x-ray charges, since there were indicators that it could have been lodged.

Bommy..you are in good company sweetie! I am also a broke fool! My first boxer was an eater of anything! Several surgeries later not to mention litarally thousands in vet care I am more experienced. I will also take my babies to the vet for just about anything! I do however have a great vet whose prices are more than reasonable and whose opinion I generally trust. That is the key, once you have the trust the recommendations are much easier to follow.

Don't be afraid to question why...most providers assume that we will blindly pay all the fees without asking any questions.
