I am so sorry for your loss. We also just recently went through this. Our 7 year old Lucy was heartbroken when we had to send our 11 year old Blake to the Bridge this past January. Our whole family was so sad. Lucy was so depressed and confused. You feel so bad because there is no way to explain this and be sure that they are understanding what happened. We went to rescue another boxer but when I took Lucy to meet him, she was disinterested. He was about 1 year old, but Lucy wanted nothing to do with him. The folks at the rescue advised against pairing them up so we agreed. This made us even sadder. I knew we had to do something though, because Lucy just would not snap out of it. It had been about a month. We decided to get a puppy, and within a couple of hours together Lucy snapped out of it. I literally cried when I saw her chasing the little guy around. They have become great buddies. I hope that you will soon find what helps your baby and family heal from your loss as well. There is hope!

Thank you for all your kind words

It does help to know that others have gone thru the same thing. Some tears still sneak out of my eyes when I read the responses or think of Maggie who truly felt like my third child. I know it will get better soon but I wish soon didn't take so long. Thanks again.

You need to take your time grieving too. It does take time but it also does get easier. The whole mourning process is a tribute to the love we feel and what they brought to our lives. Your Maggie is doing boxer burns with my Ailis, and all the other boxer angels. I would go to a quiet place and picture that whenever I was really missing my Ai (still do). Thinking good thoughts for you and your family
