4 year old female - back legs stiff

My four-year old female sometimes acts like her back legs are stiff. This is after she has slept or been in her crate. She also most of the time wont jump in our car (low to the ground car). I've asked my vet about this at her last appointment because she has done this for a while. He didn't seem concerned. But sometimes after I let her out to go potty she hesitates walking up the porch steps. I don't want her to be in pain. I am going to buy glucosimine. I have read a little about dysplacia and she has from the moment we got her done a "lazy sit" where she sits pretty weird.

Any advice? Is the to young for arthritis or dysplacia? What can I do to help her. Should I push harder with my vet? He examined her legs in January and thought she was fine.

It could be arthritis. Both my Cairo and a friend's boxer got early arthritis. We used NUPRO supplement (silver label) and it worked wonders. They were like puppies again.

You may want to consider a hip x-ray -- from what I understand, that is how they determine hip dysplasia. Hope it is something easier to treat, though.

Just unknowing, for the record,my vet, said no grapes or raisins ever for a dog, because this can cause a temporary kind of paralysis in the rear legs, and he is sad to think of how many dogs were put down,not knowing this as a problem. good luck and God bless,Bob
