4 month old pup doesn't listen

I know that i most likely know the answer yes, he's a pup and yes, he's not going to listen very often. BUT. he listens to me really well in the house, i tell him to sit he sits, i tell him to come to me, he comes. as soon as i take him to a park area right next to my apartment, he goes crazy and doesn't listen when i tell him to come to me when he eats the dirt. it's so frustrating, and i wish i knew a way to teach him to listen to me. help please

Do you keep him on a leash at the park? I took my FuFu Bear for a walk at the park for the first time on a leash last Friday and he pulled and tugged and chewed the leash. I kept the leash short and held it close. When we got to the park he sniffed around, pulled and wanted to dig I will give the leash a little nudge to keep him out of it and walk to a different location. He did good. He is 12 weeks old now.

George is the same way. At home I can put him in a sit and stay in the kitchen then walk into the living room and he stays until I release him. Sometimes over 30 seconds. The I release him and he comes running. It's kind of funny, I had my girlfriend stay in the kitchen with him and she said he was wiggling his tail frantically fighting the urge to come running. He will lay down. Up on the couch. Off when I tell him. He evens rings his bell sometimes when he wants to go out (still working on that one). But sure enough as soon as we are outside a simple sit is hard to get. We are starting classes soon. Hope they help.

I don't keep him on the leash at the park, i want him to run around and get tired, but he's just rebellious right now i guess. puppy classes get expensive though, so i don't know we'll see

Classes are not that expensive and will be far cheaper than your lost sanity.
Sorry to say this but a 4 month old isn't being rebellious......he is being a puppy! The rebellious stage is still to come!! You won't know what hit you. :D
Do the same things outside of the home (training-wise) that you are doing in the home. Arm yourself with treats, keep him on a leash (long ones about 30ft work great for outside training) and continue various commands where all the distractions are occurring. Eating dirt and many other things can be aided by teaching the "leave-it" command. Easier to start that in the house and have it also apply to things outside.

I did the training outside at the park, and it seemed to work. He's good at staying till i tell him to come for treats, he's smart. He trains good outside, just like inside, but as soon as he knows there are no more treats he's going for the dirt...
i love him either way, we'll learn. i just got a $20 off coupon for doggy training classes so i'll have to use it
