Boxer Pal
Hello,

My 4 1/2 month old boxer Bella constantly bites and jumps on my 7 year old son. She is fine with my 2 year old daughter, myself, and my wife, as well as other people and thier kids. She'll play but she knows her limits. But if my son is in the yard or on the couch she's biting him and jumping all over him. It's to the point where I have to basically seperate them to stop her from constantly trying to get him to play with her. Bella isn't being mean or vicious but she's selected my son as I guess her "special playmate". My son and I can't even toss a football in the yard because Bella just nips my son and jumps on him the entire time, biting at shorts or the end of his shirt tails. My son is very frustrated and is growing to dislike interacting with the puppy at all. I think I need Cesar Millan...

Every time that Bella nips or jumps, your son should leave the room or the yard etc. He can come back after about 5 minutes or so. A loud yelp every time she nips will help as well. Boxers can be very nippy when they are puppies. They need to learn to control the force of their bites. The only way they will learn is that if we give them feed back. He is a very good article on bite inhibition. http://www.jersey.net/~mountaindog/berner1/bitestop.htm

Bella will learn that if every time that she bite or jumps her playmate goes away that she shouldn't do that. It may take awhile, but she will get it.

Good luck!
