I was having a conversation with hubby earlier and he said Minty (daughter) had suggested getting me a white boxer for my birthday in January. I never thought in a million years I'd be allowed a third so it was just a pipe dream I enjoyed having. BUT he said Lola & Zeb get on so great and are no problem so he has no problem with a third as long as I understood that he doesn't do dog walking full stop.
Now I'm in a dilemma as there's no way I'd want to do 3 seperate walks every day no matter how much I love doing it. I wish he'd not said a thing to be honest. My daughter of course has promised she'd do it etc and help me but hey we've heard that before with the guinea pigs we got her 'I'll clean them out mum, feed them, play with them etc' Well as you can imagnie it never happened after the 2nd week
Also how would my mum cope with 3 boxers while we're at work? And to put 2 into kennels is going to be expensive if/when we need to let alone putting 3 in.

Oh why do people go do that, shatter your nice little pipe dream and make it a reality as nice as it is I have to be realistic?

Just had another negative point ~ no room in kitchen/diner anywhere for third dog bed (seriously) Am I trying to talk myself out of it here or what?

It's so funny you just posted this, I am going through a similar thing, Ive posted another thread. I loved having three, I really, really did, but there was some sence of calm when I was just with the two, now I want a third?? I know, go figure. Let me know what you'll get!!

Do you have to do 3 walks. Can't you do two at the same time and then 1? I certainly agree on the expense. We just went away and it took two house sitters to cover the duties of dogs and horses. People are always calling with a sad story to see if we will take their dog. I guess they figure with so many I never say no. I was tempted a couple of times but like you say reality takes a hold.

I thought about it for quite a while. I had this dream of having a white boxer to go along with the other two, but wasn't sure like you. By the time I finally got Tyson, I was sure. But it is more work. Have you talked to your Mum about it to see how she feels? I do three walks every morning and it has definitely been a change to my routine, but I figure it is good for me too.

While I would really like a white boxer 2 I don't think I will get another right now. Walking two can be hectic and 3 would be fine if I walked Harley without leash. I know most of my walks are by myself. For me its the expense too. I know how much it costs to feed my two and vet bills and toys. I really spend to much on them I spent $50.00 today for treats and toys and the one toy I didn't even see them play with it they just destroyed it in a minute. I bought another Cuz the last one lasted one day (the squeaker) Cookies and denta stix and so on I really have to stop!!! Right now I know for me another is not in the cards.

LOL! Three is definitely a lot of work, no doubt about it.

Our youngest is but 7 months, and I'm already thinking about #4 foolicon

It's a sickness. I need serious help. :D

Tracey, having 3 around the house isn't any different to having 2 really, they all potter about, I have a big house as it is on 3 floors but the ground floor area where they 'live' isn't very spacious.

I think the only cons about having 3 is the walks. I can easily take Luka and Angel right along the seafront and back together on their leads but sometimes I get home, look at Ruby and think 'Oh no, I've got to do that all over again now!' I used to take Ruby over to the green to meet up and play with her pals but recently so many scraps are breaking out because of new dogs I find I'd rather walk her. It's a shame she has to be walked separately but she isn't as calm on a lead as the other two.

I suppose the other thing to consider is money, as you know they cost quite a bit, I spend at least £20 a week on food, then there are all the other bits that add up.

I will be watching this thread to see how you decide! :)

Not an option with my two unfortunately  They just can not walk nicely together even if someone else comes and has one and I have one, let alone me having two together.
Another reality check I've had is I already pay just over £400 a year on insurance for them so another would be more money to pay out (god it would be £600 a year )

Oh well it's a nice pipe dream and when I win the lottery :o

I had another thought, remember when you posted about things not being great at home and you were considering splitting up? I'm assuming things are better now but I just wanted to add that during the split with my husband this past year, there have been times when I found it really hard to cope with my 3's routine. Times when I've had to force myself outside with them when all I've wanted to do was crawl under the duvet (They have been a great comfort too!):( It's something you might want to consider but I hope you and your DH are ok now :)

3 boxers lucky you :) but if you are in a dilemma and not 100% sure dont do it :(

Why not wait a while until Zeb is older and calmer - it does happen eventually :) What sex would you get this time around?
