Hi,
Just wanted some opinions from experienced 2 boxer homes. I have a 1-1/2yr old male boxer and we're thinking of getting a female puppy (another boxer of course). Our Jake is very sweet and submissive with other dogs (male/female) can be a little crazy (initial excitement) the first few minutes, but then he's fine. I hear that the older one "shows" the pup what to do....is any of that true? Thanks

Completely Boxer Crazy
Boo definitely helped Skye how to "fit in". She showed him where to go potty (not in the house) so everything was much easier the second time. She was about 1 1/2 when we got him. They are crazy about each other. They wrestle around all day and are in love. Boo thinks Skye is perfect--they have never had any aggression (she thinks he's her puppy).

I say go for it.

Although my Boxer was a little over a year when I brought a second on einto the home and the second one being 9 months at the time...they did GREAT! They were the best of buds and 2 Boxers is definitely FUN! Of course they tore through toys quicker! lol

we got our 2nd about year in after, would have been sooner but took tonger to get the breeder dog preg. best thing we ever did!! they are so close that i am scared the day something happens i dred it, our youngest guinness has only been by him self to get fixed, once in a while we will take on for quick car ride, but wife said jackson just paced looking. they keep themselves busy, and you really have twice as much fun!!! i highly suggest two!!

having two is great.

brandy was about 17mths when we brought tigger home he was 10wks. she wouldn't leave him alone to the point tigger and i slept in the spare room while brandy slept with daddy - eventually. tigger had only been home 3 hrs so he was so new to her she just wanted to play not sleep even through it was 11pm and tigger couldn't keep his eyes open - he was used to being asleep at the breeders by 8.30 and still looks for me so he can snuggle up beside mummy on the lounge to sleep until we go to bed.

i have to say it is easier training the 2nd pup as he seems to follow brandy's lead on everything and she is a great little mother, we say to her where is he and she runs and finds him or take him outside and she rounds him up and out they go - its just adorable

Rocky was our 2nd dog, Mia the boston was here first. Even though she was not a boxer I can say from a training stand point it ha been much easier to train the 2nd dog when the first is there to show them the ropes. They play together, tire eachother out, groom one another and seem to really care about eachother. We love having 2 dogs!

Do you guys that own two boxers have a hard time controlling them sometimes? I really want another boxer but my husband is worried that Jasmine will turn into a physco... She's very calm and submissive and dont want her to loose her personality... do they get used to each other and relax together or are they on constant "high speed" and dont relax until they are ready to sleep??

We had a friend bring his shepard over this weekend for Jasmine to play with, and although they LOVED each other they were contantly playing rough and knocking over tables and chairs... Would that be common activity for two boxers all the time, or would taking them out to play fetch and run around for a couple hours a day get that out of their system so that they could be snuggle bugs and normal dogs (not running laps or knocking each other over)in the house?

My two go running around like lunatics together in the yard so they are much easier to care for at night since they are tired out. It is so great having two!! They keep each other occupied when I can't play with them and they are just the best of friends! It IS more difficult (for me anyway) having the two of them when we go anywhere but it's so worth it to me. I had to buy a harness for each of them and when we go to a park or for a walk, I use my double leash connected to the harnesses and it works out great!

I have two female boxers, and they get along great!! I think the best thing I ever could have done for Ginger was get her a little sister (a little sister that's bigger than her). They romp and play together constantly. They do tend to get a little rough in the house, but I just say "Go outside, outside" and they are perfectly content to play outside. My poor yard is soooo dead!! I haven't had any problems with the two girls, except it's a lot harder to find a babysitter when I want to go on vacation. Oh, yeah, they also drag me down the street on walks, but it's two against one!

If you can handle the vet bills and have enough time to give to two boxers, I'd say GO FOR IT!!!

Good luck!
