Hi! I am new to BoxerWorld. I wish I would have known about the site sooner. There is so much great information. Anyway, we had 3 dogs; 2 boxers (12 and 3 yrs old) and 1 mini dachshund (3 yrs.). As of last night, though, we have 4 dogs. We got our newly adopted 13 month old boxer. Problem is his name is the same as my 3yr old boxer. Any advice on either changing the new pups name or disciplining them without the other thinking he is in trouble. HELP!! :)

I would change the newbie baby's name: he has to get used to you anyway - to your voice - and to you calling him: so you can give him a new name... Good luck!
Also, do you have a nick name, or short form for your 3 year old? Try using that while changing the baby's name....

On a brighter side - when you call the name out - there is agreater chance of a dog (either one) responding... :)

Let us know how you did!

Change the name of the newbie :)

I renamed both my dogs when I adopted them and it didn't take them long to learn their new names at all :)

Thanks for the advice. We are going to name him "Two" since he is our Rosco #2. So, now we have Taz, Harley, Rosco and Two. This is going to be interesting.

I'd also change the new puppies name. Hailey was about 1 1/2 when we rescued her. We did not know her name at the time we rescued her, but I really liked the name Hailey. She adjusted to the new name very quickly. Best of luck! Merry Christmas!
