The words of wisdom will vary depending on how you train Gable. Do you want him to stay off the furniture? Will you share your bed with him at night?
Putting those differences aside, the best thing you can do for all of you is to crate train Gable. Make sure he gets plenty of exercise and socialization. Obedience training is highly desirable as is knowing what to expect from your Boxer, and what he needs from you. When he is old enough, group puppy classes are good for socialization.
He may be distracted by the other dogs, but be sure to pay attention. The classes are for you to learn how to work with Gable more than for him. How well he is trained will depend on how you work with him at home more than the hour he will spend in the group class. You will learn tricks and techniques to train Gable. That is what you really want to get out of "school".
Don't be distracted from this objective, even if Gable gets distracted.
One thing you can be sure of, whatever you invest in time and effort, Gable will pay you back many times over.
Search the threads about puppies, crate training and obedience training. If you haven't already, buy some books about Boxers and study them thoroughly. They have many common traits. As the saying goes to be forewarned is to be forearmed. They can be a handful even when you understand them.
To the uninitiated they can be overwhelming. They need to be around you, and their natural curiousity will have them right in the middle of all activity and sometimes in the way.
But the rewards you get from having a Boxer make things that would normally be annoying, somehow charming.
Welcome and good luck with Gable. He will brighten your home beyond what you can imagine.
