Hi to all! My name is Melissa--and I live with my husband Brian--and 2 boys--ages 8 & 9--in a small town in Northern Indiana. We are new parents to 2 female boxer puppies.

Both born 1/16/01--sisters of same litter of 12!!!

***Abigail "Abby" is a brindle--she's gorgeous!

***Jasmine "Jazzy" is a white boxer--with one black spot on her nose!

Out of their litter--6 of the puppies were white--and 2 that we know of so far are completely deaf. Jasmine--was one of the lucky ones--she can hear perfectly well!!!

So far--these girls have been wonderful! The only concern I have had so far--was at our first vet visit--she told me that she sees alot of white boxers being put down after they turn a year old. She said they become aggressive. I was wondering if anyone else had any info--or experience with this problem. So far Jasmine is actually the more timid "shy" of the 2 pups. Hopefully we won't have any problems.....we just love them so far! They have become a big part of our family already!

I'm sure we'll enjoy getting to know all of you!

Hi Melissa, welcome to the board :)
Don't worry about what your vet said, I have never heard that white boxers especially become agressive with age.

no prob

Hey
I have a white boxer Chloe, the only problem that i have with her is how excited she is. Other than that there has been no problem. I have been told many stories about white boxers, yet I have yet to see any of them actually happen..
Enjoy your boxer:)

Find another vet. one who knows ANYTHING about boxers because your current vet is ill informed. I'm outraged at her statement. That is totally untrue and without foundation.

I have a 2 year old white boxer female and she lives peacefully and quite happily with me and my 10 month old flashy fawn little boxer girl. Susie (white) is the sweetest little girl in the world. She has not shown any aggression at all, except for the first week when I brought her home and she barked and lunged at other dogs when we went for walks. That was because she was afraid and confused and everything was so new to her when we brought her to New York City for the first time. She'd not been a big city dog so she was a little frightened. Now, she's a clam and happy, wiggly little boxer girl, who loves to give everyone she sees kisses. I've never seen a more wiggly, loving little boxer in my life.

Many others here have white boxers as well and they will tell you the same thing. I know of two others here in my neighborhood in Brooklyn, and both are the sweetest dogs around. No aggression.

Anyway, I don't want to lecture you (but I would lecture your vet), but instead welcome you. This site is one of the most valuable resources anywhere for information and guidance with your boxer. The members here know their boxers and have years and years of experience breeding and loving and caring for boxers. I hope you will find this a good "home" for you and that we can help you with your new boxer and all the questions you may have.

Best regards and again, welcome to the boards.

Welcome to the board. I do not have a white boxer, but from everything I have read on this board, a boxer is a boxer no matter what the markings are. I would find an other vet that has more compassion for animals and understanding of the boxer breed. This is a very good place to get info and to learn a lot about boxers. I am glad you joined. You will learn a lot.

Hi Welcome to the board! Sounds like you have 2 great new babies. My baby girl is named Jazmine too (but I spell it differently) I mostly call her Jazz or Jazzy girl! And I have a 4 month old flashy brindle names Chase! He is a mommas boy! And a BIG kisser! :D

Welcome!

I agree with Dan 100%! What kind of vet says such a thing?! My opinion is aggressiveness comes from the animal's upbringing/environment and its breed traits. Boxers are not generally known as being aggressive. And to say white boxers are more aggressive. HOW RIDICULOUS! That would be like saying black labs are more aggressive than yellow or chocolate labs.

Our first (and oldest) boxer is white. I've only ONCE seen him get his hackles up--and he's almost 9 years old now!

White boxer "can" be more prone to certain ailments--skin problems, sunburn, etc. It's like a fair-skinned person being more sensitive to such things.

I'm also curious about the litter your pups came from. You said 6 were white?! That seems high to have 1/2 a litter white. Was one of the parents white or checked?

Again welcome to the board--there are lots of great people here with LOTS of opinions, advice, stories, ... :D

First I just wanted to say THANKS to everyone for making us feel so welcome here! From what I have had time to explore, this site will be very valuable as far as gathering information and meeting loads of Boxer lovers everywhere!

The litter that our pups came from was actually Kaelie's first litter--she was a reg. brindle--and so was the father. There were the 6 whites, 2 fawn, and 4 brindles in the litter. They were born 1/16/01--and as of 4/6/01 Abby weighed #11.4 and Jasmine was #12.6! The vet didn't mention that they were small for their age....but they look so little compared to other pics I've seen here. They are healthy....just much smaller.

I will get some pics on here as soon as I can. My oldest son SAT on our scanner--and needless to say--broke it! Anyways, thanx for all the advice--and pass along any info--it is definitely appreciated!

Melissa :o)
